I had a CEL for something very similar "Very Small Evap Leak" and ended up just being a small valve near the gas vapor canister next to the battery. I also tried the gas cover first and it came back. I took it off and cleaned it and it fixed the issue 100%. Was around $130 and took literally 30seconds to unscrew and screw back in so I just ordered a new one just in case. Been over a year and never had an issue again. I still have it and can send it to you if you find that's the issue.
Just got my car back on Friday with the light off. Went to dinner last night and as soon as i hit the highway , Bam! light is back on. :-( I have no idea what it is and the scary part is that I don't think my indy does either. I'd definitely take that part from you and I'd be happy to compensate you for it. Hope that's the issue with me as well. The codes were indicating that area. Gonna pm you.

Can you explain what part and what you did to solve the problem? Thanks

It's located right next to the battery. It's a small purge valve from the canister there. Its just two torx screws on top and it pulls right out.

I took it off and popped off the top to see if there was any crud keeping the little valve in there open. I did notice that the little rubber grommets weren't slid back all the way, so it wasn't sealing it 100%. (on the long tubes you see that seal into the canister. You'll know what I mean when you look at it in place). I put the cleaned original one back in and the light never came back on. The part was only $130 and so easy to replace so a couple weeks later I just got a new one to safe, and saved the cleaned original.

This video shows it with the top popped off to clean, and also shows the grommets I'm referring to still on the part. Those get pushed into the canister connections once its screwed back in place.

Update: I tried the Above and with my car being a 2017 GTS I do not have that exact configuration. So no go there. I did realize that my dumb *** forgot to remember that the car still has a CPO warranty. Perfect. I confirmed with the dealer, dropped it off, took a loaner and two weeks later picked up the car. The error code wis tripping the evap sensor and what they ended up having to replace was the TANK VENT LINE . So there you go.

lol, how could you forget it was CPO? CPO is sweet when you need. Luckily for most they will never use.

Cool. What happened to the tank vent line that required its replacement?

That's what was causing my big yellow engine light to come on and say "visit workshop, ok to drive" it went on every time i got in throwing multiple warnings at times. Tried replacing gas cap, tried some other things folks suggested here. replacing that line was the final solution. Do you mean what happened to the line they replaced? I imagine they trashed it.

I think he was asking what caused it to go bad. My guess is it either popped/broke off and they replaced it for the new connector. Similar thing happened to mine where the grommet around the vent that leads to the valve popped off.

911 40th AE

~Plugs and ignition coils: just done by Porsche specialist Indy - $750 note: includes coils all parts and labor. Big difference in performance. The others were cracked.

~Oil and filter change: (9qts Motul 8100 5w40) $244. (highest I've paid by $60 but family owned and i trust these guys. they rebuild porsche engines, race, etc. Trust.)

~Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport 4 summer performance. Awesome . Tire Rack. Install by my Indy was $180.

Replace Serpentine Belt Belt $56. Labor $83.

Sounds like your guy is trying to make $ off you in maybe a not right way.

@Seth K Why did you go with a K&N air filter versus BMC?
