Default New Shoes with a different twist

Happy Holidays Rennlisters! I wanted to share my new setup-something which has been in the works for a while-over 1.5 years to be exact! 19 inch volk te37 ultras for my 991.2 carerra t (yes it has rear wheel steering).

Just after getting them mounted

Another angle.

So these are my dream wheels-and I really wanted them for my 911. I started with a set of HRE FF04s which were great but had the same split 5 spoke design as most of the other wheels offered for this paltform (including the factory wheels). I wanted something aggressive, different and lightweight. Unfortunately when I was ready to order, the 20 inch te37 in Porsche fitment was discontinued so I went with 19s in 19x10 et40 all around.

19x10 et40? Why you may ask…well a few reasons. First I wanted the front wheels in a face 3 (more concave). The 19x8.5 are a face 1 (flatter face). I had a pair of 19x11 et44 but they wouldn’t clear the lower arms due to the stepped inner barrel design of the Te37s. I did some measuring and determined that the 19x10 et40 MIGHT fit. If they did not-I would find a way. I called Vivvid Racing and placed the order in bronze. The other reasons are that I wanted a lighter weight wheel, and I wanted them to be pretty aggressive.

Pretty light for a 19. Not sure on the exact weights of the hre wheels before but I believe they are 24-25lbs each.

The fronts cleared the strut with just under 1/2 inch clearance and the rears cleared the arms with a mm or two clearance. Yep-1 or 2 MM…a bit close for my liking so I “fixed” them.

Clearance in the back

Marked out

2 mins with a cutoff wheel later and it lets me sleep better at night.

They sit pretty aggressive in the wells-about 7mm further out in front and 4 in the rear. I didn’t know which tires to get that would clear.

Rear poke.

So for tires, I wanted to try the Yokahama Advan v601s based on a few reviews here and their price (about 2/3s the prices of a set of PS4S). I really didn’t want to go lower in tire diameter if I could avoid it and I wanted to keep the circumferences similar front and rear. 245 40 19 put me less than 1mm in diameter than 245 35 20 and 285 35 19 put me less than 5mm from 305 30 20 so I went with those from Discount Tire. They were AWESOME to deal with and I got a great out the door price.

Front-the 19s make the brakes fill up the wells so much more

I do believe for my next set of tires I will try to go a bit wider up front with a 265 40 and possibly try a 295 35 out back. Will give a really meaty tire look. Unfortunately the Yokos were not available in this size.

Some room left in front-no rubbing at all on the current setup.

The rear not so much but there are a few mms left to play with.

I will pull them off in a few weeks to clean the wells and calipers in preparation for DRT 2023 in Miami and get some final weights compared to my HREs (if someone wants a deal, let me know-they will be for sale cheap in a few weeks once cleaned up). Hope to meet some of you all there!

Still meaty in the rear.

Volk caps (they don’t come with the wheels unfortunately) paired with Titanium lugs

Valve stem caps (these come with the wheels)

Final shot

Looking good. TE’s are one of the best looking wheels out there.

Thanks all! Also forgot to mention I ceramic coated them in the living room prior to install. The wife loved that…
