PSE Retrofit - Switch Console Programming
Hi - I just successfully installed the full OEM PSE kit from Suncoast on my 991.1 C2 - loads of fun. Did all the vacuum and ran the electric into the cabin. The only piece I cannot do is program the new switch console. I'm in South Florida, I called the local dealers but they all seem quite reluctant to program the switch for me since I didn't buy the parts from them nor used them for the install. I was told by one that if they would do it, and there was no commitment on that, it would likely be about 3 hours and 200/hr. That seems quite excessive for a simple programming to me, perhaps someone can share their experience, maybe provide some insight and advice on how to proceed? If I had a Piwis 3 I'd take a stab at this myself but alas, I do not. If anyone knows a good Indy shop with Piwis access in the South Florida area, please let me know. Thanks in advance for any help.
Thank you, that was a good idea. I just scheduled an appointment for 2 weeks from now, let's see - I'm a little discouraged by the stealerships...I worry I'll show up and they'll say I can only do it if I buy their parts.
Five years ago I purchased a new to me 2014 981 Cayman S and my first DIY project was installing the Suncoast PSE kit. I had all wiring and vacuum lines completed and located the PSE button in the proper location in the panel and had everything ready for the coding to activate it. At the time I was a noob to Porsche and not familiar with PIWIS and the coding procedure. The local central Ohio Porsche dealership seemed to be unfamiliar with activation of the PSE purchased from Suncoast and asked me if they provided me with the activation code. I suggested they call Suncoast and one hour and $140 later I had a functional PSE. I assume they called Suncoast but maybe they discovered another way to activate it. It might be a good idea to call Suncoast and see if they have the code or the procedure to activate it through PIWIS and the recommended time to activate it with PIWIS.

Difficulty is a degree based on your level of ability I guess. I found it pretty easy, running the vacuum lines and electrical was PITA but doable. If you have an S then, indeed, you only need to change the center muffler, if base like mine you need to change the two sides as well as the tips. While I suppose you could do it without removing the bumper, I would think you'll spend more time than you would removing the bumper and replacing it. with the bumper off, you see the six contact points holding the center in place - two clamps on the body to the engine carrier, two pipe clamps connecting it to the sides, and two flanges connecting to the headers/cats (with 3 bolts a side.) Unbolt the flanges, remove the pipe clamps, then the two large clamps holding the body and off it comes, pretty easy.

i had my retroffited PSE coded. I was sitting next to the mechanic while he was coding the car: at first the ECU and then the climate control buttons (the PSE button belongs to the climate control group of buttons). It took him 15 mins.
You definitely need to remove the bumper to get access to everything. Soak the fasteners and bolts in kroil or other penetrating fluid for 10 minutes before trying to break free.
