New battery?

Also interested to hear from any other longterm AG users with 991s.

I purchased a AGM DEKA Intimidator Deka 9A49 AGM Intimidator Battery + Free Shipping (amazon.com) I've had very good luck with these batteries...
When the time comes, I'll be installing an H7 94R which is what my car came factory fitted with. They have a slew of batteries in the Intimidator line including an H6, H7 and H8, all of them fit.

Curious about a couple of things. Wondering if the Banner batteries that come shipped with these cars from the factory are simply better made longer lasting batteries than what can be purchased here in the US. Is there something special about these batteries that give them such a long life?
The other thing I'm curious about is how much would the dealer charge just to sell you a new battery through the parts department (no installation or coding). Because if we're just talking an extra hundred bucks or so to get a Banner battery from Porsche, it might be worth it. I realize that the biggest gripe is that it costs over $500 to get one installed at the dealer. Just wondering how much of that is parts vs labor.

It’s time
I just replaced my original battery 2 weeks ago. It was 10 years old. I used a trickle charger during the winters when it was in storage in Ohio. The signs were starting to pile up that it was time, and I didn't realize how slow the cranking was until I put the new battery in. If I didn't drive it for a few weeks at a time (which wasn't out of the ordinary since moving to CA), I noticed that it was slow to turn over and weird things started happening like incorrect TPMS measurements...heated steering wheel notifications when I don't even have a heated steering wheel...etc. It was then that I knew it was time.
Yeah, you could probably stretch it out as long as I did, but why chance it? Like others have said, it's not a bad idea to swap the battery out on a used car and then maybe reassess in 5 years or so. Once the warning signs started popping up, all I could imagine is my being stranded in the middle of no where with no cell signal. Not worth it.
And yeah, everyone saying the swap is 15 minutes of easy work? TOTALLY TRUE. If you can turn a wrench, you can replace the battery. I spent more time driving back and forth to Batteries +.

Anyone use icarsoft 2.0 to register new battery? Necessary? Should I buy icarsoft just to have?

My 2017 991.2 at 32K miles still has its original battery. During recent service the indy shop said it’s in good shape. At 6+ years in service I have no problem replacing it proactively. I see mentions about Batteries+ and Interstate in this thread as sources. My local B+ says that they show nothing about availability for 911s (website pulls up GT3RS and Turbo only). Interstate site doesn’t list Porsche on their model search tool. Any idea what’s changed and alternative recommendations for a non-dealer source? TIA

I believe the 991.1 has the same battery which is H8. Online Porsche parts lists the same part number for my 2013 4S as for 2017 S. BTW my battery will be replaced within the next few weeks (not driven in winter maybe 3-4 times). Been kept in garage and on a CTEK but not nearly the number of miles as you have at 18K.

Batteries are made for the chains by a few battery manufacturers. East Penn, JC, etc. I like to buy directly from the manufacturer.
