One more upvote for this. I have a lot of experience in HI and we are finally looking to buy a place there. It is beautiful with scenic drives, but a high-performance driver's car will go wasted there.
We will likely ship my Mini Cooper S there. Something like the Mini that's pretty sporty but not truly high-performance, as well as easy to park in tight spaces, is my choice. A not-huge SUV/4WD vehicle to let you access some of the more rustic spots and that can tolerate the often-rough roads is another good choice.
Of course, this is unless you have money to burn and just want to have a hot car in which to look cool driving around.

I disagree with the last post.
There are few places to drive a 911 on this island.
HPD use lasers as a source of revenue, not enforcement.
Lived here for 30 years with a 911SC, 944S2 Cab and 997.1. My speeding tickets cannot be counted using both hands.
The roads are in horrible condition and the salt air rusts cars relentlessly.
I own a Macan GTS (keep in Oregon) and a 997 GTS (keep in SoCal).
Had to sell my 997.1 to preserve my right to drive.
PM me for details, but it will be a caged animal here. Sorry.
(There is an active PCA chapter here, but my cars are on the mainland, so I don’t participate.)

Ive been to Hawaii , Oahu , Kauai, Lanai, Big Island ,and mostly Maui many vacations - just got back from 7 days in Kaanapali - absolutely our favorite family vaca spot .
We love the islands, but appears to me there are no obvious roads to let a 911 or any other Porsche let it rip .
Single lane roads with speeds that Might get to 65 if you're lucky .
Leave the 911 home .
Bring / buy a disposable car

There are some great driver roads on the outer islands, but not on Oahu.
I don't think the Hawaii PCA Oahu members (I am one of them) can name a single road that would do a 911 justice.
Lived on this island for 30 years and drove a 911 every one of them until 2017- there are no enthusiast roads on Oahu.
