Default Need help with lug nut. Lost key.

The key for the lug nut lock appears to be lost. I'm thinking this is not an OEM lock that the Porsche dealer would have a key for. I'm guessing it is aftermarket. Am i wrong? Anyone recognize this kind of lock or know who might make it? I'm guessing i'm going to have to have a local wheel/tire shop get it off. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You can drill it off. I unfortunately had to do this with my Aunt's Escalade. You will probably need a new bolt on the rotor hub.

Sorry this isn't what you might want to hear.

Thanks guys, I think you guys are right, they do look like OEM from some of the pictures i have been looking at. I will have to stop by the dealer and see if they have a key. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I did watch a few youtube videos on getting them off without the key. I'm hoping to avoid it as i'm sure it would probably scratch the wheel pretty good.

local indy mechanic or dealer should have a key to get it off as well.

Dealer will have a full set of keys and will sell you the correct one. Ask me how I know… 😊

Ha!!

Ditto here but it wasn't for my P car. dealers have all the keys and will gladly make a few bucks off your misfortune

Which is why I have two. One that came with the car and one in my tool box.

When replacing them, take note of the key code and order a spare.

As a precaution, bring proof of ownership of the vehicle with you.

Buddy of mine would decline people at least weekly who wanted this kind of stuff because they couldn't prove they actually owned the car. Your dealership may have a similar policy.

This is in reply to an earlier post about dealers having a wheel key.

Yes they will and a dealer in Illinois lost all of my business. Story - on a Saturday I lost the wheel key to my 993TT. Went to a close by dealer's parts department. Yes they had the key in a set but would only sell me the single key I needed at twice the individual key price. I could order the key but would not get it for 4-5 days. I paid the 2x but never went back for anything. I later won an option to buy a 2016 Club Coupe - they were not my preferred dealer so f-em. It was a big deal because the preferred dealer earned one more 991 allocation for the next year and I assume going forward forever.

I did go through the exact same thing with my 993 as well. Went to the dealer and they found the key i needed and also ordered a 2nd as well. They did want proof of ownership also. These locks are very different than the 993 so i just figured they were aftermarket. Still A LOT to learn about the 991. I will swing by the dealer and see what they can do. Thanks again, i appreciate it.

Try swinging by a major tire shop near you. They probably have a box full of lock keys for obvious reasons.

I lost mine a while back purchased 4 bolts from the parts counter and asked to borrow the key set from the dealer. Changed out the locking for standard bolts with in the parking lot.
