Default 2018 911 4s winter tires

Anyone have advice on winter tires. I can't find anything local. I have 20 inch stock rims and my rears are the stock 305's. The local tire shop can't find any company making winter tires that fit our cars. What is everyone using and where did they get them. Plus any preferences out there from personal use. Thanks

At the risk of not answering your question directly, I use All Season Conti Extreme Contact DWS 06, also on 20's with 305 rears for year around in Wisconsin. Have one winter on them so far and no complaints (and that's with a RWD car).

Are they good in cold wet? I have p zeros now and anything below 50 degrees and they are slippery on any surface. I live in Oregon and it rains a lot!

295 rear width tires are what most people run.

Michelin Alpin are what I run on the 911.

I drove my car home from the Porsche dealership, which was roughly 1000 miles away, on P Zero's on a day it was 8 degrees! It felt like I was on Barney Rubble's tires they were so hard. Also, throw in a little bit of lake effect snow - I was glad to get home.

As far the the Conti's - I've had them in sub-zero on snow pack and they've been fine. My daily commute isn't super long distance or anything, but I've never felt the least bit unsure on rain or snow. Also worth noting, after 10k on the Conti's, they still have 7mm tread.

Order from Tirerack and get them sent to a local shop for mounting. You can use their site to get what you want.

Pirelli Sottozero served me well. Winter tires that are great in wet and snowy roads. The reason your local tire shop is clueless is they looked at your current tire size instead of taking two minutes to investigate what the Porsche specification is for winter tires. 295 is the width you need. Check out Tirerack.

If anyone needs some extra rims to mount your winter tires, I'll be selling my stock carrera classics soon. Perfect condition. Would make for a great set of winter wheels.

TR claims to have these in stock, but not for long. This is a fitment for my '15 991.1 GTS. Same size as your 4S?

50F and rainy is treacherous on any summer tire. You need all-seasons -- DWS06+s are fantastic here. If you see and plan on driving in snow, get proper winter tires, you get your choice between Michelin Alpins or Pirelli Sottozeroes.

Depends on the wheel. 20” Sport Techno are 11.5” and take the 305’s.

Are you running all seasons in the summer or just winter?

Have run both Sottozero and Alpins on various cars. The Alpins are better on ice and snow, but on dry/cold/wet roads the Sottozero are excellent.

Running the Alpin 4 (N-spec) for this winter and will look forward to seeing trying the Alpin 5 when needed. The Alpin is a winter tire, but versus a non-high performance winter tire like the Nokian Hakka R, Blizzaks, X-ice Snows, Conti winter tires etc they give up snow/ice traction for higher dry traction. But I think most people with Alpin winter tires probably avoid driving in Blizzards when possible.

Planning on driving the 911 as much as possible in the winter, but for snow/blizzard days have access to the E63 and Jeep Wrangler both with winter tires.

I have a set of Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4s with less than 1,000 miles on them that will never get used in So Cal. 285/35r20 rears and 245/35r20 fronts. They need to be dismounted (unmounted?) from the stock rims and shipping seems unnecessarily expensive but they're available to anyone with a reasonable offer. Cheers!

You have a 2018 so you have a 991.2 which means you have an 11.5" rear wheel. You will want 305's for the rear on a 991.2 Alpins should be available in 305. If you did a set of snow specific wheels you can go a bit more narrow in the rear with an 11" rim and fit a 295 instead. (that's what I did)

PS4S in the summer. Would have switched to DWS06+ for summer as I'm in Minnesota, but I've since sold the car. Replacement car will be getting DWS06+s though. Summer tires don't make sense here.

In the winter I always, always run a dedicated snow tire. The PA4 for the 991, in this case. Between the sottos and PA4s, the PA4s win ever so slightly, but it's truly negligible in day to day driving.
