PS4S in the summer. Would have switched to DWS06+ for summer as I'm in Minnesota, but I've since sold the car. Replacement car will be getting DWS06+s though. Summer tires don't make sense here.
In the winter I always, always run a dedicated snow tire. The PA4 for the 991, in this case. Between the sottos and PA4s, the PA4s win ever so slightly, but it's truly negligible in day to day driving.
Like you winter tires appear on all of our cars.
Problem is 2 of our cars (E63 and X3) are still on the OEM tire which is a summer tire (P Zero) which means winter tires get put on early and stay on longer as we get freak snow. At least the Jeep has AT tires for summer and winter tires for winter so we can still get around if needed.
Cannot wait until I can replace the P Zero and will be going with the Michelin PS AS4 tires as I have them on my RX-7 right now and they are fantastic for what they are.
I do run Cup 2 in the summer on my 911, but if I can get a 3rd set would likely run an all-season day to day, and swap on tires for the track days and winter tires for winter.

Alpin. I drive in MN and WY in winter. The snow tires help a lot.
Better get them soon. According to the post above the 245/35 Alpins are discontinued and limited to stock on hand. I have the pilot alpins on my BMW and the 275/30/20 are no longer available, so it looks like the sottos are the only option when it comes to replacements.
I have the Conti DWS 06+ as well on my 2017 991.2. Overall satisfied after 1 winter. Ride is vastly smoothly than the P-zeroes and the Michelins but I notice a definite loss in handling sharpness- not quite as nimble, even when I not driving too aggressively. Of course this is to be expected. Still, the smoother ride is so much more noticeable especially on longer trips, I’m considering leaving them on all year.

If you're in MN in January/February, we go up and plow a little track on a lake in Pine City to mess around. Last year we were in Nowthen, just north of Ramsey. I took my C4S with SPASM around for a few laps, it's a fun group of people and it's 100% for fun, no timing or anything. There's a guy with an older Cayenne Turbo that comes up too, so you wouldn't be the only P-car.

Well it kind of snowed. Less then an inch but the roads had ice on them. The APLIN's are awesome! I really do love my awd car. A sports car you truly can drive year around

discount tire is my local go to for tires here. It took two weeks to get the 305 rears and 245 fronts but it is worth the money! And wait time. These things grip really well in cold wet weather. Love them so far and worth the $2200 dollars they cost.
Appreciated your post and have a follow up Q: Will be using my 911 4S (2024) this winter for a weekly 250 mile (one way) commute from NY area (less and less snow every year) directly north to a job in VT (still plenty of snow). For true snow or blizzard days i'll use the Macan, b/c being late for work is not an option. But if it's only typical winter/wet I'll use the 911, with 19-/20- Carrera light alloy. Question is - what tires? Any insights appreciated.
Michelin Alpin's or Pirelli Sottozero's. You want real 'snow tires' driving in the winters up here, even just slush / wet, snow tires are still superior. (50+ year resident of NH / MA here) Now if you're going to just drive when the roads are clear, you could get away with DWS06.
I had DWS06's on my '16 C7 2LT 7M and while it did ok, it was still pretty hairy at points where I just parked it if there was anything on the roads.
I have DWS06's on my '17 C2S right now, but I'm still not going to drive it when the roads are crapy. I have a CX-9 with Michelin CC2's on it for that.
