It's called "engine coolant pipe" or "water pipe". Depending you the year and model of your car, it probably is No. 0PB-121-085 (replaces 9A1 106 627 00, 9A1 106 627 01).
If it isn't missing or leaking, you probably don't need to replace it.

I see what you mean now. The pipe is quite compressed.

As I mentioned in my PM to you, replacement is an easy fix if you are doing the work. The clamp at the other end of it might need some pliers to remove. I've had that pipe removed from the thermostat housing when I replaced an O-ring in the plastic pipe. You'll spend more time filling it with coolant and purging the system of air.

Spoke with the dealer to order this morning. Part will be sourced out of Germany so 6-8 week wait.
not looking forward to the purge. But while I’m at it, will replace both radiators and add a center. thank you again.

If you are doing this yourself...

You need to drain the coolant. There are two drain plugs, one shown in the first photo and another one on the thermostat housing as shown in the last photo. Get new aluminum sealing rings for them.

You need to remove this fastener. The fastener has already been removed and the coolant pipe has been moved to the right of the vehicle and pulled out of the thermostat housing shown in the next photo. You can just see the clamp on the rubber hose; a spring clamp.

The coolant pipe has already been pulled out from the thermostat housing and is shown below with a plastic bag and elastic around the end. You do not have to remove the fastener in this photo.

The coolant pipe is shown at the bottom of the photo with a plastic bag over it. Get two new O-rings and clean the grooves of the coolant pipe and the cavity in the thermostat housing before sliding them together.

Depends.

I had my 991 in my sloped driveway with the front pointing down and by the time I had the rear wheels on a set of standard sized ramps (about 10 inches), the rear of the 991 was up high.

I drained 8.5 liters and spilled about 1 liter maximum, so about 9.5 liters. Upon filling, it took 8 liters which I topped up over the next couple of days of short drives with an extra 1.6 liters. The pointer in the coolant tank is in the middle when the engine is warm. I used a 60:40 mixture of coolant to distilled water and used Valvoline Zerex G-40.

Each mark is a liter. There are 3.785 L in 1 US Gallon.
