Default fuel station question

Here When you take 94oct fuel its the same pistol of the 87oct fuel but i would say 95% would take 87oct in there car
My question is how much liter of 87oct fuel goes in the car before 94 oct fuel come in ?
That is why i always fuel my car empty to full to have min87oct fuel...

this always bothers me at pumps with a single hose.

in az we only get 91 as our highest choice so to have half a gallon of 87 dilutes it all a tad more.

Not enough 87 to be concerned with.

I think about this a lot!

I don't like to let my cars get down below 1/4 to 1/2 just in case. If the first, let's say 1/2 gallon, is 87. After a few refills, the proportion of 87 only increases in the tank with each top off? I have 93 in my area, and an untuned NA motor so it won't affect me as much, but still a pain to think about.

do the math.

in a 16 gallon tank with 5 gallons of 93AKI in it, if you pump 11 gallons of 93AKI but the first entire gallon is 87AKI, your gas tank is still 92.6AKI as a whole.

in the real world, the amount here is so, so negligible that it straight up does not matter.

if you're running a tune that requires exactly the maximum available octane at your pump, then you need to stop driving on the streets with pump gas, or back off your tune.

What happens to those extra 2 gallons every single time you pump? lol
I'm guessing it would just get dumped into another one of your cars.

Just don't think you are getting less ethanol with high-test fuel. That used to be the case.

A simple experiment with 800 ml of fuel and 200 ml of water in a 1000 ml graduated cylinder. In each case, fuel was first put into a gas can to eliminate what might have been in the hose.

And these are the results...
