Default Carbon fiber rear spoiler under$300

Hey guys I had been thinking about replacing my GTS cab with a 991.2 GT3, and decided to pass since this is a cruise to work or the beach car.

I wanted to do something fun so bought a carbon fiber rear spoiler off Ebay, and it just arrived. I have to say the quality is pretty good, and it even shipped in a wood box.

It will look a little funky because it's only held on by a few pieces of 3m while I decide if I want to keep it. Sorry too for the bad pictures.

If you know of better options let me know. I was looking to goose it up a little bit.

So should I keep it or send it back? Opinions?

Looks really nice! Only thing I will say about buying a cheaper CF rear spoiler is that I had one on my old Audi S5. After a few months, the CF started to fade on top and didn't look very nice. Ended up wrapping the top portion of the spoiler to make it look better.

I've heard that before. Wonder how I can get UV protection. I have Xpel on my Alfa Romeo, and I think we put it on the spoiler too. But nut sure if it has UV. Clear window tint could I guess. And there's treatments that could be added.

Any ideas welcome

I like the look. I too have one (Spoiler king one - hard rubber) but ended up switching it out for a Type II fixed wing. If anyone is interested and don't want to spend a bunch go $ I am selling it. Just IM and I'll send pictures.

That’s a pretty attractive price, is it really actual carbon fiber or plastic looking like it?

It is carbon fiber. The quality looks pretty damn nice. There are a ton of sellers on Ebay offering products with the same exact looks at a similar price, and I suspect all of them are the same. Now that I've sat and looked at it, I really like it. It stays. It's got a similar look to my Alfa. It's great.

Many of the sellers are from China, and though the total price may be a little cheaper I wanted a stateside seller in case I wanted to send it back. It's $225 plus $40 shipping. It even came in a wooden shipping box, very well-packed. As to UV, I might get my PPF guy to put Expel UV film on it. I'm sure he will charge less than $100 to do it.

Send it back. It cheapens your 911. I also don’t think it fits the lines of the 911.

It also disrupts the airflow designed by engineers.

I don’t like the look with the wing down, wing up looks good.

I have been vacillating for literally years on whether to get one of these or not. Been thinking of it recently as prices have come down. In the end, decided that it does spoil the lines and looks like a glued add on.

But all that matters is if you like it.

Most small spoilers are taped on. I've decided to keep it. In person it looks really good and goes well with the lines. And frankly I didn't see any better options. I can take it off later and sell it in the marketplace should I choose to.

i took a couple more pictures, but it's hard to get a shot that looks like it does in person.

Yea but I wanted the weight savings of carbon fiber (grin)

I'm not into black or bark blue cars myself, but when I found this car it was as-new and the interior and build sheet is off the hook, and they really wanted my trade in. If my car was another color I might do that. But truth is when it comes to small rear spoilers for a 991 there wasn't much that I like. In fact not much even available.

That's about it for this car. I did refinish the satin black wheels to satin platinum because keeping the black nice was a nightmare.
