2013 991 4s - DIY Activate PSE with PIWIS clone
I retrofitted the PSE center muffler on my non-pse 911 and installed center console buttons (all oem kit from suncoast). Verified the exhaust flaps open upon cold start then close once warm. Looked all over on the forums and just want to confirm if anyone has successfully activated the added pse center console button at home with PIWIS clone. I've read some have tried but it messed up the sport & sport+ buttons. Porsche dealers close to me don't seem to be confident on how to activate/program the button or at least are not motivated to do so. Any help would be much appreciated! Great info and people on this forum!

The install was not bad at all. In my case with an "S" model, no wiring is required. Just swap the center muffler, use the existing (2) exhaust vacuum lines to connect to the new single valve on the replaced center muffler, then swap the center console button module to add the pse button. Purchased the complete kit from suncoast. Just now stuck trying to activate the pse button.

Porsche Factory install instructions attached, coding instructions on page 13. Boston area dealer charged me 1 hour labor to code the PSE function/button.
BTW, I first installed the new switch with PSE button and had the dealer code it (before installing the PSE muffler). Button works fine with stock S valved exhaust and makes a difference in sound. Later on I installed the PSE muffler, a very reasonable DIY project.

I unfortunately didn't take any pics as it is basically just removing the existing center muffler and replacing it with the pse center muffler. Then popping off the center button module and replacing the buttons to add the new pse button. I would say the most important part is confirming with a dealer first to line up the pse button activation. Otherwise just with the muffler install the experience will be underwhelming as it does not activate as expected without the ecu programming.

One area dealer quoted me one hour labor for coding and another two hours, did not get any pushback from any of them. An experienced service advisor/manager makes all the difference.

Do you already have a PIWIS clone? If you're brave enough, you could try the steps mentioned in this post
I've no experience trying to program the buttons myself though.. It might turn out to be not any more risky as other coding tasks we do with a PIWIS clone..

The instructions seam very easy on the S models. Did you have to remove the rear bumper? It doesn't say to in the instructions but prob makes it a bit easier.
Question, So on a no PSE Carrara S the valve opens only on cold start? I wonder what the reason is for that. Just curious.

Yes, remove the bumper and the heatshield around the muffler for easier R/R.. Doable but very tight with the heatshield in place
Non PSE Carrara S also opens valves after 3,500rpm

great thanks. I never knew that about the valve opening. But makes sense. It sounds great in the upper rpm range
