Blendmount and radar dector
I have a 2016 911 Cabriolet
Anyone happen to know what wires (colors, etc.) to connect up into the power in the rear view mirror? And, if you've done a rear-view mirror mount radar detector, anything hints, tips, or cautions to a newbie?
thanks!

I had mine done professionally and they went into the fuse box, which is a good solution and the cables are easy to hide.
Everything you need to know is here.

If you have the auto-dimming rear view mirror option you can tap into that. If you do not you’ll have to connect to fuse box. Instructions above worked for me because I have the dimming mirror feature. So just make sure you have that before digging.
When I bought my C2S Cab there was a blendmount already tapped into the mirror. I added the piece to mount my trusty Escort Passport Max and it works perfectly. Mine is powered with the car; it turns on when I start the car and shuts off when I turn off the car. If it's always powered, it's tapped into the wrong wire.

I have done both - mirror tap for the Valentine, and fuse box for the front camera. I did the mirror tap using go.illini's instructions, largely because I didn't want to deal with removing the trim for the fuse box. Turns out, no big deal - there is only a panel at the bottom that needs to be removed to take the cable into the fuse box. For the other panels, you can just push the cable under the trim. To me, that solution is cleaner, since you go straight to the source, vs. drawing power from somewhere else.
I do have the dimming rear view mirror but after consideration am going to just get the fuse box connect routine and do it that way.
Anyone happen to know (besides an electrical tester) which fuse locations are controlled by the ignition on/off so I don't run the battery down?
thanks!
