OP, as far as I’m aware the only way to stop the artificial racket is to overwrite the software with a tune. If you’re really serious, dump the pointless PSE for a quality straight-through cat back system. Better still, add sport cats
I have the Soul 200 cell cats on it since 2019. Besides the benefits that come with more flow, it hasn’t changed anything related to the overrun, since it’s artificially programmed. If anything, they’re louder and more annoying.

i wish I could enjoy the sound of the fully open valves without that ****.

@BondJ

At WOT even with PSE off, don't the valves open? i.e. no power loss with the PSE off b/c it opens up top anyways? and then the valves close at lower rpm / decel to mute the pops/crackles?

A tune can solve the popping/crackling or run in S+.

Like @TomiK I have my 'individual mode' set up the same.

Sport plus doesn’t have the pops though, correct? Sport does.

In the "Individual" mode you can set up to your liking. You just have to

@TomiK
"For now, I've programmed individual mode to Sport with PSE disabled for daily driving."

I started doing this today, oil temp only went up 4 degrees. Just like stated elsewhere, the Rice Crispies sounds are much more muted, makes driving with all windows down, and sunroof open much more enjoyable.

I’ve had Individual configured with S and PSE Off for four years now because that’s how I prefer the PDK map in automatic when in traffic or when I’m tired. But that doesn’t eliminate the problem.

Below 4000 rpm, it’s no as annoying but still audible. I mention this only because it confirms that S mode does this artificially.

As soon as I accelerate a bit more or choose to momentarily downshift over 4000 rpm, the valves open and there’s no difference, it’s back to fully annoying.

You are correct that the valves do pop open under a certain throttle position and load resulting in the pops and crackles returning.

I would suggest a tune to remove them completely.

I asked APR and they said they didn’t do it and, for reasons that I will not discuss here, I’m not going with Softronic or Cobb.

Where will you discuss it? Curious as to why the pass on Softronic.

That’s interesting. Did you get an OtS file or did you take the car there to get it tuned on the dyno?
