Default 991.1 and 991.2 should have separate sections

They are completely different cars. It would be nice if these were separated. Too many 991.2 threads for us 991.1 folks.

Pretty sure this has come up several times before and it has never gone anywhere.

There are enough shared bits and bobs to keep them together. The retrofitting alone is worth it. How else would 991.1 PDK owners know their shifters are backwards?!

As far as the conversation here, it's nice to have N/A folks in the same place as the FI folks. Good for a wider perspective, rather than a silly echo chamber of ".2 is best" among .2 owners.

True, but I think posters should at least specify if they have a .1 or.2 in their posts

Nah, I have a GT3 and I still come to the 991 section. It’s super lazy too It’s not hard to determine if a thread is something applicable to you or not.

997 forum also includes both .1 and .2 - and I haven’t seen folks there asking to be split. I’d miss the humor if the crowd were to be split 😊

And I would definitely appreciate folks to mention the year, sub-model for their own ease of finding answers. Maybe the first few replies could ask for more info and educate new members. Otherwise the solution to all questions will be ‘bigger turbos’! 😁

Because there's a nights and day difference between a 991.1 and 991.2 compared to a 997.1/2......

991.1 has a naturally aspirated engine; 991.2 has only turbo engines. Both 997.1 and 997.2 are naturally aspirated. Arguably, the 991.2 is more similar to the 992 than to the 991.1, as the 991.2 has essentially the same engine as the 992.

Agree 100%.

They really are different beasts.

The 991.2 isn’t just a facelift.

It’s a completely different engineered piece of art.

Enclosed below is Part 2 of an article I wrote for PCA San Diego region.. It .provides a little insight into the "pull" of the 991.2 compared to the 991.1. I have owned both models so my conclusions were based on my personal experience. Both are great cars with both being very unique in their own way. 9 months with the 991.1 and about the same with the 991.2 GTS.

Deep in my heart, I'd love to have a 991.1 GTS with the aero package...450 HP....I could live with that, BUT, I need to learn to be happy with what I have (Not going to happen).

“It seems that the only thing the 991.1 and 991.2 have in common are the roof and door panels. Everything else is new on the 991.2.”

The exact reason for the poll. Very nice write up but not a fair perspective of 991.1 vs 991.2. You bought a 991.1S, not equipped the way you wanted and that bothered you from the get go, and the 991.2 was a gts.

Honestly, you can say the same with the 997 generation. The 997.2 also had similar updates (Bumpers, lights, PCM, interior, steering wheel... even the engine is different)

Here we go again. For those of you who think these cars are "completely different", you mean besides the chassis, interior, transmissions, etc., right?
