Default First mod -- exhaust system

Hi all!

So I've been eyeing this exhaust system for my 2013 4S by Fabspeed:
https://www.fabspeed.com/porsche-991...etCurrencyId=2

Does anyone have experience with this product and/or brand?

In terms of labor, how many hours would something like this take to install?

Thanks!

I had a bad experience with FabSpeed directly. Called them to let them know what I was looking for, they suggested a piece which I bought. After testing it for a few minutes I hated it, called them to start my return process, no dice... I hated the sales pitch "keep it for a while, the sound will grow on you" but I was stuck with it. I managed to sell it but loss a lot of $. Their return policy sucks!

Installation time depends on the state of your cat studs (3 per side). If they are heavily rusted you may have to cut and drill them off, get new through bolts with washers and nuts. The rest is easy. I suggest you spray them with PB Blaster for 3 consecutive days, wire brush them before putting a socket to it.

Good luck!

What did you buy, the exhaust I mentioned above?

Do 8 hours seem too long to install this?

Thanks everyone

WOW, 8 hours of labor to install an exhaust system?

Please go else where, they are robbing you

Does the car have PSE?
Even if you dont have PSE, I would say skip the muffler system and buy Sport Street Headers, at least 25 RWHP Peak and between 40-50 Lb Ft of TQ in the mid range, plus better sound. Real gains that you will notice and love on the .1 N/A Engine

First off I suggest that you look at a SOUL exhaust. Perfect fit and finish. I have the headers (200 cell) and valved exhaust and it's amazing! Second - 8 hours is highway robbery! I would highly suggest looking else where! The whole job can be done in less then 6 hours. I did my headers at home that's how easy it is to do! Only reason I had them do the valved exhaust is because I didn't feel comfortable doing the vacum line. My local Porsche dealer charged me $300.

The HP gain (25+) is in the midrange not top end (only gain 15 on top)...but the TQ is felt all the way through the power band. It certainly worth it in my book. You will not find a better sounding Porsche unless you have a full exhaust! It's sounds amazing!

I don't have PSE, are you saying I should keep my existing exhaust and buy the headers instead?

Thanks!

If you can afford to do the whole system I would highly suggest it as you WILL NOT regret it, but if money is tight then I would suggest headers and high flow cats.

hold up

40-50tq through an exhaust change?

I call shenanigans. There is exactly zero chance that was left on the table.

Check out the SOUL web page as they have a dyno chart.

You may be confusing that number with "Peak" numbers

There are many dips and valleys on Stock Maps, I have seen at least half a dozen before and after Dyno runs of only Header and Header + Tune on N/A cars. All netted 35-40 RWTQ in mid range, thats not even up for debate.
Peak numbers are more like 15-20 RWHP/TQ depending on health of engine and items like Spark plugs/coils. (as in provided they arent near replacement age)

Soul, Fabspeed and the rest, all have shown before after Dynos, and there are plenty of Dynos available on this and the "other" two forums

Ah, yeah, 36tq at a very specific RPM. Looking at the rest of that chart, it's a much more realistic ~10tq gain. Getting critical about it, the OEM power dip at 4250 have been moved down to 3600 RPM instead (and, if we wanna get snarky, the power gain at 3600rpm is zero).

N/A power mods have been, are, and always will be hilarious $/HP. The 991.1 is no exception.
