A leaky blow-off valve will do it too. Basically, it leaks boost so the turbo tries to spin faster to make it up. If you're still on the stock Bosch ones, good chance they have deteriorated and leaking.

Btw i have evom's dv's but i will do a leak test to 35psi and see what happen
