Default What do you clean the interior with?

Hi all!

I've got a 911 C4S Cab and have only been cleaning the interior with a damp microfiber cloth. On the seats, I use a leather conditioner/cleaner twice a summer (the car is stored for the winter).

Read that some cleaners would remove whatever Porsche applied at the factory to protect the interior from UV rays.

Thoughts? What have you all been using?

Sonax foaming leather cleaner/conditioner on all my cars including vintage ones.
HI-TECH extra foamy for everything plastic, vinyl, even carpet. Incredible product been using for 25 years.

To protect against UV all my cars have Autobahn i3 ceramic window film on all exterior windows. (including must-do windshield)

  • 303 Aerospace Protectant for the most part (just spray on a microfibre towel and wipe). Can use this stuff on just about any rubber/plastic surfaces you want. I even did my wheel wells this week, and I actually use it on the leather surfaces in my Kia Sedona and Genesis GV80 as well.
  • P&S Double Black XPRESS Interior Cleaner for deeper cleaning
  • Leatherique cleaner/conditioner (I don't use this stuff often, I've had the same bottles for around 10 years now)
  • Gyeon Leather Shield ceramic coating

Sonax foaming for me as well! Works the best especially with the perforated (cooled) seats that are a pain to clean.

Foam for leather seats for sure. I like the Colourlock leather product line. P&S interior cleaner is an effective mild cleaner. Gyeon Interior Detailer is supposed to be excellent too.

Are we differentiating between cow-hide leather and what they call leather these days? Not a lot of actual cowhide in cars except on the upper trim models, and even then some things that aren’t an immediate touch point may be a synthetic leather replacement (e.g. seat side/back, dash, etc.) for some cars. This isn’t a bad thing, but worth noting that actual leather requires different moisturizers than synthetic materials do, and no point wasting the $ on those products when a more inexpensive cleaner and protectant suffices as used on any other synthetic interior surface.

Unless you’re absolutely sure otherwise, most leathers are painted for the surface finish. So the product you’re using will not treat the actual leather directly.

IMHO painted surfaces need cleaning and whatever makes the surface maintain flexibility without affecting the paint. I’ve been using a damp cloth. But then my car isn’t in the sun much and only the driver’s seat gets use. May try some of the suggestions as above.

for more heavily trafficed leather i use the vinyl cleaner, for regular maintenance the cockpit is great. once a season i will use leatherique rejuvinator but it's cumbersome, sticky, and i don't detect a great benefit. of course leather in a bottle is a GREAT option bc of it's ease of use but mostly because it smells incredible

The wife’s the master detailer in our household and she’s pretty loyal to AMMO brand. She always has that stuff stocked. I use the Ammo ‘interior lather’ to clean and follow up with ‘leather conditioner mousse’.

I’m sure there’s other products that are plenty sufficient and cheaper out there. I have to admit Larry’s YouTube videos with him detailing/restoring rare Ferrari’s and other high-end cars lends his brand a lot of street cred.
