Car Cover Questions
Looking for recommendations for a car cover for my 991.2 C2S. Obvious choice is the one available from Porsche for around $300 which I may go with. But before I do...
- Besides better protection from elements like rain and sun, does the outdoor cover have a thicker inner layer or is the inner fabric layer the same for the indoor and outdoor versions (which cost about the same)?
- Any downside for using an outdoor cover indoors? Seems like a dumb question as I can't see any reason why you couldn't or shouldn't use an outdoor cover indoors. I would think that if only getting one cover, then an outdoor might be better in case I were to decide to temporarily park the car outside the garage for some reason
- Any recommendations for a quality indoor/outdoor cover that fits as good as OEM, offers AT LEAST the same degree of protection, but at a better price?
Thanks in advance!

Not familiar with these particular covers but know that covers are prone to swirling paint, a light cover that has a soft inner layer used only indoors on a just washed car is the only way to prevent that.
A heavy cover placed on a car with a bit of dust on a windy day will have you getting a paint correction in no time.

I've only viewed covers as dust prevention so I don't need to wash the car when I take it out of storage. On that note I go for the cheapest thing I can find -- a couple old bed sheets, a "medium" sized car cover from your local auto parts store, whatever. As above, wash the car prior to putting the cover on and you're set.

If the car is garaged I’d pass on the cover.
If it’s stuck outdoors covers are even worse trapping moisture etc.
Im not a cover fan due to micro scratches.

For me, car cover during winter only and that's only to prevent it from getting scratched if someone walks past it.
I've used the Porsche outdoor cover on an older Porsche. It's a more durable material, not as soft, at least back then on a 986. It probably will cause more scratching than the indoor cover.
I use the indoor cover now. It's soft.
If you want a cover with more protection, you can look into something like this, but I have no personal experience, it's also more expensive. https://coverking.com/products/car-c...40289227276450

I'm a big fan of Covercraft . I had them make a cover for my 991.2 in Weathershield HP for outside use. Be sure to say no advertising if you buy one. You can get a better price from autogeek.net.

I have the amazon "large" cover outdoor
I cover the car inside after it is washed. Once a year i wash the cover. This keeps all the dust off the vehicle and prolongs it being clean. Like $40 and machine washable.
I had to keep a car outside once and this isthe best way. Visqueen covered by a thick blanket covered by a car cover. The 3 layers kept the new paint perfect.
