Will be interesting to see where this one ends up. Already at $130K with 2 days left. Original MSRP of $160K
doesnt seem like too much interest in this one... only 4 comments over 6 days... maybe the spec isn't too appealing? My guess is $143K

I'm trying to figure this market out, and not liking the signals. I got a notification this morning of 4 cars similar to my 2012 911S just listed by Carvana, at $72k (2012 911 base), $74k (2014 911 base), $75K (2012 911S) and $76k (2012 911 base). I'm asking $78k, and the car has a ton of upgrades.

I figured I might investigate selling to Carvana. They offered $38,000 for my 2012.. Yeah, Carvana is losing money hand over fist, but is this how they expect to cover the gap? Who's gonna take that offer, and, really, wholesale is only 50% of retail?

The other conundrum I've learned is that ±90% of the Porsche buyers don't want upgrades, and are put off by them, no matter the quality or purpose of the upgrade. A dealer friend of mine in Northern California even told me they wholesale "upgraded" cars as not being with the trouble. In other words, the market says you don't get any of your money back on upgrades.

Where's my 10% audience??!!

Another Targa that had been in a moderate crash impacting the front and both sides just sold for $140k yesterday on PCar Market. This one should go for more in the last 20 minutes.

this would actually be good if we had a handful of owners doing this regularly. that would be a pretty neat indicator of pricing trend.
Just got another one, highest yet and $7k more than the last one. I looked back at the last 18 months, each one higher than the next. Total increase ~$38k from 18 months ago.

I wouldn't depend on those values too much as they are very trailing indicators of the market. Zillow sent me a valuation for my house this morning that is about $300k above actual current market value. If it were accurate, I’d have all my crap moved out by 10PM this evening for that buyer.

not to go too off topic, but Zillow owns a crap tone of real estate at this point. They have an interest in over valuations as it pushes the market upwards which helps increase the value of their own real estate. I’d take their valuations with a grain of salt.

Their valuations were always a joke, even a very long time before they ever started flipping homes.

…the Zillow comment.

Yeah, I was wondering if it might be a trailing indicator. But someone asked me to update if it changed, so I shared the info.

I want prices to drop, especially on new! I’m not planning on selling my 911 any time soon but I wouldn’t mind adding a Taycan Cross Turismo to the stable….

Hmmm ... in our area Zillow "value" has always lagged the up market ... since it is statistically sales-based, it should lag a softening market, as well, right?

I just sold a 991.1 GTS and dealer offer was where I expected a private party transaction to be. Based on my experience, I feel market may be softening for certain trims, but the right vehicle is still holding the values from a few months ago (maybe just not increasing).

Yup. The thing is, one man's treasure is another man's junk. I don't know your car, but as an example, personally I'd much rather have a stock car than one with oversized wheels, teeth-rattling coilovers, loud exhausts, tinted windows, aftermarket wings and spoilers, or G*d forbid Scrotch harnesses. To me, all of those are downgrades, even if the parts may be very expensive and one may consider the car more "dialed in".
