Tracking a cabrio
Figured I'd start a new thread on this!
Any suggestions on mods/purchases to track a 2013 911 (991) C4S Cab?
Here's what I've got so far:
- Racing brake pads
Could someone share a link or two for some good racing pads?
- SRF brake fluid
Castrol?
- Helmet (snell certified)
- Tires (I have PZERO)
Any specific brand/model recommendations? I'd be looking for something middle of the line, which would last.
- Dash cam
Any setup suggestions?

First track day for you? OEM pads should be fine.
When you start getting fast:
I use EBC Yellowstuff pads (dont make noise on the street and are a track pad) - lots of brake dust like most track pads.
Upgrade the rotors to Sebro if you use track pads. track pads will eat the OEM rotors.
Tires Cup 2's when you are ready for them.

Good suggestions. Dont go crazy out of the box. The car is really good, it's the driver that needs work! LOL!

LOL yeah, anyone can mash a gas/brake peddle -- navigating a track is a whole different story!
Guess I'll wait for my brakes to need changing before changing pads/discs. Good to know the yellow pads kill OEC discs!

I just took my 2013 C4S Cab to the track for the first time in March. My car is stock and the only thing that I did to prepare for it was replace the brake fluid with Motul RBF600. The car is quite capable. Don't stress it and just go enjoy. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

I noticed my PSI was raging high, like 48 per tire.
In the door it mentions 36PSI front and 44PSI rear cold, should I follow that for daily driving and reduce by 3-5PSI for track?

I used up my factory pads replaced with Padgid yellows, will change rotors when they go, did fluid probably only thing I would do up front, helmet. Tires I like PS4s for all around but I chose to get a set of 19” wheels with SC2s which I found much better on track. Depending on how you use your car and how often you end up tracking, you may or may not want second set of dedicated track wheels/tires. I also added CG LOCK which lets you tension factor belt to hold you in better.

Start at 31 front & 33 rear for the first session and go from there. You will likely have to bleed some more. Use the compressor in frunk to fill up before the drive home.

Different tires work optimally at different PSI's... However, I have found that if you are running a PS4S or similar you want to shoot for a max 36-38 PSI by the end of your session. You will have to bleed down in the first session for sure and maybe the second depending on a number of factors. For SC2's I shoot for 33-34 PSI max. YMMV and you will find a lot of opinions on tire pressure as well. Experiment with different pressures, it will help you develop a good feel for what the tires are doing which is very important to go fast.....

You can set the tire pressure mode in the PCM. I have mine set to comfort, and then -1 all around which gives puts me at 29 front and 32 rear for the street. Definitely reduce 4 PSI from your cold street temp right before your first session, and NOT when you get to the track. You'll want your tires to cool back down first. Take the first two laps easy to let the tires warm up, after that feel free to send it.
