Default Control how long back up camera video is on

The back up camera video stays on well after I'm done backing up and have shifted into first gear. Is there a way to adjust this? I'd like to have the b/u camera video end as soon as I change out of reverse. New owner, tried Google with no luck.

Default well

I want exactly the opposite. 991.1 with Joyeauto backup camera. I would like the screen to stay on for a few more seconds as I shift out of reverse early and stay in neutral while I roll to a stop. A first world problem..

Curious to find out if there in an adjustment to this as well. I have always noticed that with all the German cars I have owned, the back up camera always stays on well after I have finished reversing and driving forward. All the Japanese cars I have owned, it is an instant shift when the rear view camera turns off when I switch from reverse and into gear.

Yeah, the 991 requires going above a certain speed to disable. Other cars that instantly turn off are based solely on the gear selector or reverse light illumination, the latter being the common tactic for aftermarket headunits.

You can hit the back button on the headunit itself to exit the view if you need to. While this isn't the automated solution you're probably looking for, it will allow you to stop seeing that distracting rearward video a couple seconds earlier.

My Mercedes does this. I think it's 10 mph.

Thanks all. I'll either hit back button on head unit or I'll speed up faster in first!

"go faster" is always a great solution.

(not actually, please be safe)

Thanks for the manual workaround. I have been frustrated with this behavior because after a stop and putting in a new nav location there is no visible indication of which way to head while moving slowly in a parking lot or driveway until reaching 5 mph. I can't think of any reason to leave the rear camera on with first gear engaged.

I added a backup camera to my 2014, the cost is much less than the repairs if you damage the rear end.

You backed up too far into a space and need to pull forward over the line is a reason I can come up with.

(sure, a totally avoidable and fringe case scenario, but hey!)
