Followed lead of tx-911 (same inexpensive bar from “Ultra Racing”). Just took all the stickers off, painted black with rattle can, put on a yellow Porsche sticker to match my trim, and clear coated it.

I did have to dremel the holes bigger in order for it to fit over the bolts (may have to do with my particular camber settings).

Haven’t pushed car hard enough yet to know if there is a difference.

Blends in nicely.

Cover still fits!

Nice! Love the paint work. Might need to do the same at some point. 🤙🏼

Reviving an old thread as there is a new option. I ordered one last week and it should arrive today for install in a couple of weeks.

I do like the various brace points and as with other E-Motion parts looks very well engineered.

Great find @IRunalot That looks awesome! Seems like it's VERY well engineered as you said. For the price it better be. Curious to see if you can still use the compartment cover over it. I realize that hardware is a bit ahead of my skill/needs but that will indeed be making it's way onto my "list". Please be sure and report back on this.

Going to ask the shop to get "creative" and make the cover fit LOL. Might mean some cutting but they are pretty good at custom work so lets see what they come up with.

If you're going to install the strut brace, leave the cover off. It looks better with the cover off.

That cover is the battery cover and is listed as such in the parts catalog, as such it is required by most tracks as a safety requirement.

All I see here for Chin, PCA, NASA, and SCCA inspection forms is battery secured properly, which that cover does not secure the battery.

Definitely happens on a 991.2. My car is considerably lower than stock, with TracTive dampers, TPC sway bars, so it's possible this was a factor. I hit a pothole before a berm at Buttonwillow Raceway (the soil is very fine silt so a few berms have potholes around them and periodically they get filled in).

Is that even repairable?

Please tell me more. I'm a regular to Buttonwillow, and would like to avoid! Are you talking about dirt that has been moved away from the beginning of curbing? What turn or area of the track did you hit the "pothole"? Maybe a brace is in order......

The sad story is that I broke the right strut tower TWICE at Buttonwillow.

First, going CCW, when an instructor told me to get closer to the right exit berm coming out of Riverside. I didn't have a strut tower reinforcement plate at the time and only noticed a crack after a day at Sonoma. At Buttonwillow, I hit the berm/pothole so hard that I lost 2psi in the tire. On the way back from Sonoma Raceway, I heard a terrible metal clanking noise and only later realized I had a cracked strut tower. I didn't use insurance and paid 7K out of pocket.

The second time, a few years later, going CW at Buttonwillow, when lining up to turn left for grapevine, the white line disappeared right before the berm and BOOM I bent an HRE R101 Lightweight wheel and broke the strut tower a second time. This time, I had a strut tower plate, as you can see in the image above, and maybe that saved me. I used insurance and the bill was 20K because I also replaced the hub/bearing, wheel (which was 4K alone), tires. When I returned to the track, the pothole was filled with asphalt.

I wonder if it's also a combination of my DSC settings, which may have very low compression damping in that particular situation and let the damper bottom out very quickly. My spring rate is 100/150, I have TPC sway bars. After the second incident, I also noticed that it was possible for my sway bar to bind against the steering rack. I had to adjust the end links under full droop so that the sway bar was only 1mm above the lower control arms to avoid touching the steering rack under compression. Perhaps I have too many aftermarket parts and mechanics don't go through the trouble of making sure the unorthodox parts fit correctly together.
