More damaged Porsches during storm at sea.
Just went to my local dealership to schedule the VTS Control Recall/Update. During a conversation with a salesman, he mentioned that the ship that departed after the Felicity Ace was caught up in a very bad storm. Apparently, a bunch of cars loaded on the top shipping level came unlashed and were found upside down on their roof. The ship’s cargo has been sitting in the Davisville, RI port for nearly a month as they assess the damage. Long story short, don't expect Porsche prices on the secondary market to correct any time soon. I imagine we'll see something about the incident in the automotive press at some point.

There is no article. The salesman at the dealership in Massachusetts just told me about it this morning. The ship is sitting at the port in Rhode Island. I do not know the name of the ship. Just sharing what I was told.

As far as I know there are no cars left open to exposure on the top deck during transport so I have to call BS on this one. I remember reading that the salt water and sun exposure and potential for some flying debris are the reasons all of the cars are indoors during transport. Nor can I imagine a ship that large getting tossed so violently to be able to get a car to literally flip on its roof. Please share a link if you ever find one addressing this incident.

Obviously, the upper levels would list the most in extremely rough seas. I was told a bunch of the cars on the upper level (NOT top deck) came unlashed. It is not the first time this has ever happened on a vehicle transport ship in rough seas, so I see no reason why the salesman would just randomly make something like that up, especially when I was mentioning that I may sell my own car later in the Spring, and salesman suggested that I hold off for now because of the incident. He was suggesting prices should continue being firm for many months to come because of the Felicity Ace, the Ukraine-related wiring harness shortage (now resolved), and now this latest shipping incident.
Lastly, this is exactly what happened to a ship of BMWs around 2009, I know this because I had an ordered BMW E90 M3 that was destroyed. Therefore, I canceled my M3 order and just bought an AMG C63 due to arrive several weeks later instead. These vehicle shipping accidents are far more common than most people realize. The attached article makes reference to some prior transport ships that have capsized.

I must have misread that. I assumed the top level of a ship was the very top level, my apologies. I am aware there are many levels on these ships, I just misunderstood what top level you were referring to..

A car carrier, or even the largest container vessels, are still like floating tin cans out in the open ocean. Mother nature is much more violent and strong than you can imagine. If cars were to come unlashed on a vessel, they would be thrown around easily given the amount of rolling and pitching a vessel does in the open ocean. Given that the cars were on the upper most level, it would experience the most total movement from the rolling of the vessel. Poor Porsche, just can't catch a break...

There’s a single photo Porsche published to the dealer portal and it indeed did show cars tumbled onto each other. Most of them were Audi/VWs this time but each car has been going through a thorough inspection. Several owners who had cars on that boat have had their cars clear already so the bad damage seems to be limited to a couple of decks. Surprised the photo hasn’t leaked.

I just toyed with selling my 2017 991.2 C2s. MSRP was in the 130,000 range in 2016 when we bought the car. Offers we were getting were around 100k. 16k miles on the car. In the end we came to our senses and decided to keep the car. Certainly glad to not be in the market for a 911 right now.

So far it's all hear-say in this thread.

More information on Felicity Ace
All dates from V250 to V900 have been removed for the dealer PSVMS system for replacement cars from the FA.

This is not BS. I knew about this 2 weeks ago but can’t get into the details (protecting privacy of individuals)
There’s even more to this story than what your salesperson told you - not only were several found on their roofs, but a few actually went overboard into the ocean.
My source is direct. That’s all I’m going to say in this thread.
