Default 991.1 front center grille opinions

At last...tired of moving it around in the box, going to install center radiator. Wondering if there is a consensus on best center grille? Since the bumper will be off, ease of install less an issue than quality, fit, and appearance. Thanks

Hi, bossboy302,

I read a couple of threads about center radiators ... is the issue that you track your car and it overheats, or it overheats in traffic with the AC on?

Wife's car-doesn't track. But she (and I) notice the high temp readout. Temps are lowered when in Sport mode. Hoping even lower with 3rd radiator. Can't hurt.

Oh, is this a common issue in 991.1s? My 2015 is rock solid on temp in Florida ... are some years more likely to be affected?

Just match your center grill guard with the other radiator guards you have already installed, you have installed these? Zunsport gets cgood reviews, they are made of wire mesh powder coated black. I had RGS plastic weave on my 991.1, on the 991.2, the previous owner installed what I believe to be Zunsport Grills, even of the center sport when there was no third radiator installed. Confession: I do have the Sincoast Center Radioator kit installed on my 991.2 and it was installed on my former 991.1 as well.

As far as overheating goes, as I understannd it, there are moveable slats on both radiators. They open up in the Sport and Sport + Modes. My car will run at about 190 - 195 degrees F in SoCal, in contrast to 220 dehress F in the Normal mode. Prior to the kit, on both cars, there was still a 20 - 25 degree F delta running in Normal in contrast to Sport...don't run in Sport + much.

Take a non-center radiator equipped car to the track, you'll see 279 degree oil temp, maybe higher. It is generally accepted that the Center Grill drops the oil temp a minimum of 20 dehress F.

I used the Rennline grills as well. They look OEM and fit perfectly. I’ve seen varying levels of fit and finish with the other two providers. I had someone that knew what they were doing fit them. Very reasonable and a better job than I could have ever done.

Sounds like the OP's car temps are running as designed. In my opinion no need for a third radiator. For appearance the Zunsport grills are a 20 minute DIY install. Plenty of videos available to show how to do it.

I like how this fills the blank space on the front of the car.......completes it in my opinion.
