Asking for a friend....
Seriously, I have a buddy who has a 2017 Cabriolet. He and wife drove to Padre Island, about a ten hour drive from dallas. All was well the entire week, then on the way home the A/C started blowing hot for about 300 miles all the back to Dallas. Got home, put it in the garage, next morning drove to dealership and it was blowing cold all the way over there. Dealer could not reproduce it. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Thanks,

You should post this in the 991 Forum.
Maybe a faulty change over valve.

An AC system needs to cycle, it has to have "down time" when the compressor isn't engaged. If some sensor that does this cycling is faulty, on a long trip with it constantly on, it freezes up and that's it. When you park it and it has a chance to "thaw", the next time you use the car, it works. If the service department doesn't know this, they are lying to him, its a basic part of any AC system.

This is a 991 issue and I did have one so I. wil answer your question . I live in Florida sp AC is a big deal . I have never had an AC do which your friends car did . In an earlier car I did have a freon leak . It was repaired under warranty. It sounds to me like its either a leak or the comp[ressor is going . This is a list of other things it might be.https://www.wheelsjoint.com/porsche-...how-to-fix-it/

Tell your friend to check for clogged condensate drain. Trapped moisture will lead to freeze.

Sounds like it iced over. This'll happen if the system isn't cycling as often as it should and it's humid enough out.

Likely, when it is humid, icing can occur if run a long time. In this case place is recycle mode to reduce humidity the system sees ( before it ices up)>

What else did the dealer do to try and diagnose?
With their little computer they can do just about everything to operate the system to see if anything is failing plus a simple set of gauges can tell you if it's low on refrigerant.
If they just turned on the system and ta-da it was blowing cold ..... I'd look for a new dealer.
