Ridiculous for the work performed but probably the norm for pandemic-pricing Porsche. Technically Porsche can’t invalidate your warranty if you take it to an Indy (as long as the proper services are done by age and mileage). Over a 6 year period (warranty and CPO) I’d guess you’ll spend $3-4k extra to maintain your car at a Porsche dealer as opposed to an Indy (assuming you don’t drive it much). Don’t worry though because for every enthusiast there are ten soccer moms waiting to pay these services prices for their Cayennes and Taycan. You’ll probably have to wait 2 months just to get the opportunity to get ripped off. (That’s the case here in Vegas). Such is life.
If we use an indy, will the records be uploaded to Porsche? I have a few years left on CPO.
You don’t need the records upload just save your receipt and if there is a problem that is covered by CPO you will be fine. It’s a big misconception that you need to do service at a dealer to keep a warranty.
Also I know I’m in NH but I had this same service done on my car with a new belt installed and it was $1.6k at a local independent.
I had my 991.2S 4 yr service done a couple months ago and paid just under $1,200 with a reputable indy here in Houston. I had the oil change done already a few months earlier, and that was $242. So just under $1,500. Have all receipts. Dealer wanted $2,700. Best to find a good, reliable indy.
I have my 4 year service coming up in July for my 2018 Carrera T. My understanding of the high cost is because of the labor to take off the rear bumper, Y pipes, etc to access the engine air filter and spark plugs.
You can see from the photos BlackOptic posted above. Just no easy way to access everything. I also will need to replace my battery (they don’t last long out here in the AZ heat).
My 991.2 4 year is end of the month. First quote from a well respected S. Bay dealer was $3300. When I pushed back and asked for itemization, it dropped to $2000. Then asked for PCA discount and it's now below 2k. Still expensive but there's a balance for me in having the work done by a P dealer if I decide to sell the car in the near term.
Reccardo Mora: feel free to PM me and I'm happy to share which dealer I'm working with.
DaveGee: unless you're getting uneven tire wear, not sure why you'd need an alignment. That's probably 300+ there. The pricing quoted is truly insane. Ask them to break out parts and labor. Even at $250/hr, that's nuts.
The sad part in all of this is that the dealers are all so busy, most won't even respond when called out. They're more likely to respond "take it or leave it".
Yep, fair point on the alignment. Agree that I don’t need it.
I’m more surprised that no one has commented on the “Engine Performance Service”. You guys are slipping. I questioned it and here’s the explanation I got. You’ll love this one:https://www.bgprod.com/services/engi...es/engine-oil/
I'm in CT and was quoted around $2200+tax for the 40k service including spark plugs, engine filter, cabin filter, oil change, and brake flush. My local independent wanted around $1k. I decided to go with the dealer as my car is CPO and I've had all my prior services at an indy so figure a dealer visit is in order
I have a 2018 991.2 C42. The car has 12K miles as of March, 2021. It's CPO warrantied. I was quoted $3.300 for the 4-year/40K mile service. I replace the cabin filter and the pre-cabin filter myself. Service includes new spark plugs, replace brake fluid, engine intake air filter, oil change and an inspection. Sure seems like a lot !! I'm in N. California. Anyone have similar costs quoted?
i shopped around in north shore of Chicago and started at $3500 and ended up at $2600.

NF.
wait their servicing on a Taycan? I thought one of the benefits of EVs we’re no more oil changes and other servicing since it’s all pretty well solid state? What do they do?
Anyone know if there should be some labor overlap when replacing water pump/vacuum lines while also doing the 40k service at the same time? Pump just went out and I'm due for the 4 year service. Car has 9k miles on it, and they are also telling me I need 2 new rear tires and an alignment. For the grand total of about $4800 (pump & vacuum lines under warranty).
porsche irvine tried to charge me $3300 for year 2 service, can't imagine whats the cost of 4 yr service. My T only has 4600 miles coming up to 3 yrs, a message just popped up on the dash for inspection- thinking of taking it to an inspection/service
I got a couple of quotes from Rusnak Pasadena Porsche yesterday. Seems reasonable compared to other prices mentioned here, and they were able to get my car in next day if needed. If you’re in the area and looking for a dealer they might be worth checking out. I actually got higher prices for the same service quoted by House Automotive in Pasadena, which is a supposedly well respected Porsche independent.
