Amazed at all the smart *** comments (actually really not - but very disappointed) as many fellow Porsche Enthusiasts have suffered a devastating setback in their dream car purchase. Hope it makes you feel good as it does not do any good in general. What a devastating accident - glad the crew is safe.
I sent a friend the pic from the article. He knows boats or I should say ships. He said if the pic is of the ship that is on fire, it's unladen - meaning there is no cargo or cars. Said it was riding too high. He had no idea about this event. So that's something very strange.

Maybe you can give the eulogy and cry us all a river.

gimme a break with your "devastating setback". obviously you have no understanding of what "devastating setback" means. and joking about something does not equate to "feeling good" about it. no one is happy about this. just some light hearted humor. i've had "devastating setbacks" in my life. this isn't even in the same zip code. have zero doubt many of the people who were actually impacted will *eventually* get a laugh outta this as well.
Let’s keep things in perspective. No one here is being callous towards the crew or owners of a ship which like a Porsche is itself a great marvel of engineering. We all love our cars, but they are close to the apex of luxury items in this world, and we’re lucky to be able to afford them. If waiting longer for one on order or having to give up one you already have is really going to devastate you, it’s time to get some therapy for your problems.

They're just cars. I think a lot of us have realized finding humour in these sorts of things the past two years has been a big help to our mental health.
Of course we're all glad the crew is safe, that goes without saying.
I wouldn't call it devastating, but after all we've gone through in the last couple of years it is another "what next????" moment. Insurance will sort out the costs and owners will eventually get their cars, but I would like to know some of the comments of Porsche and Bentley execs when they heard the news. I remember following my 991.2 on the "Green Cove", and I can imagine the feeling if I read that the ship was on fire and adrift at sea.
At first glance of the news, I assumed that it was something normal like a Migrant ship full of women and Children, upon further inspection turns out it is WAY worse.. its got PORSCHES onboard.. RIP!!! Bless their Hearts!!!

I wonder if a few people breathed a sigh of relief that they would not have to come up with a condo size chunk of change in a falling stock market to pay for a new car 1 month hence

Curious if somehow they were able to offload any of the precious cargo before it sank. There doesn't seem to be any publicly available images of any cargo salvage efforts.
what a bunch of landlubbers....that ship is laden..check the paint at waterline..spent 3.5 years on same ship off Nam. Pic shows my ship in middle,,carrier on left and destroyer on right being refueled(non ethanol)....check the waterline on my ship, its about 16' below the laden weight paint line..
