Tonight I open the glove box normally , not forcing it to look at my maintenance manual then afterward the glove box didn’t want to close.
I see a plastic pin on each side of the glove box , my guess is those pins move in & out when we pull the handle . Mine doesn’t move when I pull the handle .
I found the problem , the side pin goes in when handle is pulled but doesn’t come back to it’s original position. My guess is the spring inside the handle assembly came loose.
if anyone knows how to remove the handle , and access the assembly let me know . Or else I’ll let my Indy shop fix it.
Don't know the answer but I would think you can pry that side pin housing off to take a look.
I think that side pins housing is one piece.
I can pull the pin out manually but as soon as I pull
the handle it goes back in & stays in. You can see screws under the carpet but not sure if there is more to it in order to lift that panel out to look under.
Unfortunately I have the same problem - I was quoted over $1300 by the dealer to fix it. Apparently you have to replace the whole glove box unit, not just the lid.
I tried all manner of other solutions. Magnets, velcro strips, prying out the pins, trying to cut through the interior of the glovebox to get at whatever spring must be there, all to no avail. Lots of awkward angles trying to get tools in there. Velcro strips work but the panel gap it created was very obvious. It still drives me nuts but I settled for drilling a small round head screw into the pin so at least the glovebox lid stays closed. It still opens with a little bit of effort.
At some point I'll just order a replacement glovebox if necessary, but any alternative solutions would be very helpful!

Thank you very much for sharing your experience . 1300$ to replace the glove box just because of a loose spring is Porsche tax .
I will let my Indy shop look at it & find a solution . I don’t mind the Velcro or screw idea. As long as it secured while driving.
Looks like you have a black one. Check ebay around $500 +
Yes my glove box is black . Thank you for the heads up. I will try the Velcro until my Indy shop look at it this springtime. If all fails, I’ll look at eBay which is more reasonsable than dealership .
Update in case someone have the same problem & don’t want to buy a new glove box.
i used the Velcro method , and it’s holding extremely tight . No gap can been seen either.
i had some heavy duty carpet Velcro, so I cut 4 small pieces. I first cut 4 large pieces but they were sticking with each other too much to the point the sticker would peel off when I open the door .
first I cut 2 pieces & stick them facing each other. I positioned them in a way they don’t touch each other too much . So they can separate easily when I open the door. This leave a gap though.
so I added 2 pieces where the pins are. 2 pieces of the same material so they rub each other tight closing the gap.
