PDK Transmission Fluid Change question
Hi,
on my last service appointment with the Porsche center, they told me the PDK gearbox has fluid on the outside. Nothing to worry about and something which can be done on the next service (120.000 km) Mine now has 98.000 km.
I have no issues with my PDK - shifts smooth as butter.
One year later (now) I decided to get the PDK service done by a very reputable Porsche Indie. He quoted me 700€ in advance including parts and labour.
My questions:

- Has anybody done the service before?
- Is the price about right? The indie told me the whole fluid-pan has to be changed since, the filter is integrated in the pan. I know this from Mercedes: same construction.
- What is the service interval for PDK fluid change?
- Has the PDK to be retrained/relearned after service?
- Found no Video/Instructions how to perform the PDK service online. Just out of curiosity would love to see, what will be done.
- any hints or potholes to watch our for?

Yeah, about the same price I paid for it. There are some gotchas on the service, the transmission has to be in a certain temp range is one of them. My shop did a relearn of the transmission after the refill.

All, my understanding is this is a different service than "replace clutch fluid" correct? My 60k mile maintenance is coming up and this is some of the quote. Total quote was around 2600 w parts.
I am assuming the pdk clutch fluid and the pdk transmission fluid are different services.

They should be replacing the PDK pan with that service. There is an integrated filter for the fluid in the pan, and the only way to change it is to replace the pan.

Rockauto has pan & fluid kit.
Theres also an aftermarket aluminum pan on there too. I’m not sure if I’d try it but aluminum would dissipate more heat.

#Baltimorehokie, there is no PDK service due at 60,000 miles (no clutch fluid). Nothing until 120k. Also that quote is outrageous. Brake fluid and oil change, and drive belt at 60,000. That should be less than $1,000. I assume you have a .1 because spark plugs are not included. (They are due at 80,000 on .1 but on a .2 due at 60,000).

For heavily tracked vehicles I do a PDK fluid and Gear oil change twice a season without the pan. I have never seen debris in the pan filter but I do change the pan every other time to be safe.
After doing the fluid change about 20 times it gets pretty easy, the first time can be confusing especially if you use a PIWIS. The best instruction procedure is in the GT4 Clubsport manual, they do not mention using a PIWIS at all. I'll see if I can dig up the instructions.

Total price is 747€
110,60€ for the PDK-Oil
355,26€ for the PDK-Oil-Pan
26,26€ Torx Screws
Labor: 136,40€
all plus 19% sales tax.
Seems to be very reasonable to me.
Best of all: No residue in Oil-Pan with filter and my 911 runs and shifts like a newborn…
case closed for another 60k Kilometers…
Total price is 747€

Never never buy uro brand parts, it's the worst quality Chinese half baked aftermarket stuff.

Just look at that pan, you can tell it's terrible quality - the filter is wrong, the drain plug hole lacks the metal reinforcement as do the 13 bolt holes, and perhaps most importantly it's missing the 2 strong magnets that catch any ferrous material floating in the fluid.
