E85 tune
How does the Apr e85 tune on gts turbos stack up against other tunes, is anyone running it? Looks like Mitch with m engineering may be way to go. Just curious on experiences with either before I pull the trigger. Thanks

With Mitch at M Engineering, you’re getting a E85 Protune on your Cobb that will be dialed in for your specific car and hardware.
I’m working with Mitch at the moment on my E85 tune and he’s been great.

I am a Cobb guy myself but wish the apr e85 tune was available as a map on Cobb. The research and development they have on that tune is second to none-I am sure Mitch can do even more but I like that the Apr is tested, proven and the limits are known.

We've run E85 on these cars for a very long time now and have made really great power. When you use M-Engineering for your E85 map needs, we are always here for datalog review and providing revisions if so needed to get the car perfect. Ethanol varies from region to region with content and manufacturing, so it's important to review how the cars run and tweak to keep everything safe and sound. A canned tune will not provide you with that ability.

We are here if you have any questions!

I’m currently waiting on a revision from Mitch since I installed a new O2 sensor and need adjustments made as I’m hitting the PDK torque limiter and throwing it into limp mode.
The car is an animal when it doesn’t go into limp mode though. Hopefully we can get this resolved.

It took me about 2 minutes to get my car started yesterday on E85 - it was in the 50’s. Usually it takes a couple cranks, but this time it was a struggle to start.

My previous F80 M3 was having the same symptom with full E85 that I finally went with E85/91 mixture to dial back the issue.
Otherwise, the E85 tune from M-Engineering is great.

It was hard to get the car started this morning, it was is a low 60, but it wasn't a few minutes. Since my car has half a tank left of E85, I will get the car to fill up today with 91 and see how it reacts tomorrow morning.

Why not E40 (E42.5) all year round. Which is exactly what I have run for 3 plus years. Never have start issues.
The problem with your solution is, after running E85, your car will feel broken running straight 91.
E40 will give you most of the power gain of E85. Running E85 is just for convenience, for those too lazy to put half of E85 and half of 93 (or 91) .
Many places here are on the same pump. So I just put 15litres of each in if I have half a tank left. Or 22 litres of each in if I were down to a quarter. Takes one minute longer. Never over stressing the fuel system. Never have starting issues. But as men, we always believe that more is better. (This is one of the few cases where, more is barely any better.)
For those who don't believe me, I'm 6.85 60-130 running E40 and a Passenger in extreme heat. When you beat that, I'll ditch the passenger and run again. It should be cooler then, and I should have the M-Engineering PDK tune to prevent the clutches slipping.
