$2200 for plugs?

I paid under 1800 at Porsche St Louis for Spark Plugs, Brake Fluid change, air filter change (including cabin), oil Change, and Track inspection in 2020.
I'm aware the inflation train has now hit dealers...
I moved to Atlanta in May 2020
Porsche Atlanta north wanted 1400 for oil change, air filter change, and track inspection... I just got an oil change and honestly I'll never return there again.
There is Freed Performance in Cumming GA... goodbye dealership..
Or.. I'm going to Porsche Atlanta South
If I need major service it would be cheaper for me to ship the car to St. louis... I really really liked those guys.

Same here.... $1800 for the 4 year service including plugs at a Porsche dealership.

$2200 is egregious. It should be $500-800 from a dealer, provided you're not throwing coils at it for no reason.
Plugs are $120-200 in parts charge alone. if you're doing coils as some kind of preventive maintenance, tack on something like $500-600 more at least. Then the 2.5 hours of labor at $160/hr, and you quickly get into the $1k territory. Half that if you're not doing coils.

This thread makes me thankful that I can do a lot of my own maintenance.....there are a lot of crazy prices listed. I did recently find a local indy that has a lot of Porsche experience/skill, his shop labor rate is ~$155/hr, so if I need assistance with something, I would likely go to him before I go to the stealership.

Replacing plugs at the service interval is not a gimmick. Especially turbocharged GDI but even NA GDI engines are very hard on plugs. Following service schedules is good practice.
I would just buy the parts from Sunset. Especially on something like plugs. While not commonplace, I have seen on more than one occasion where the plug's electrode broke off and bounced around in the cylinder walls trashing it. I have no way to prove it but I bet it was not a genuine OE plug that was sourced safely through a vendor in a controlled supply chain.

(991.2) Service Interval regarding Sparkplugs: 30K Miles/4yrs
With only 11k on the car, I wouldn't say it was time just yet unless the car went through some wild temperature cycles (track/heavy street use).
Its about $505 for coil packs and plugs from FCP. (991.2)

I paid $600 at the dealer here and that was on a 981 where plugs are total pain in the *** to replace. It was about $200/hr labor rate. Had another local (even closer) dealer quote me $1200 and when I told him someone else offered $600, he was surprised. Next time I'm doing them myself.

i paid $240 for my plugs and coilpacks. installed them myself on my 991.1 with the car on ramps.
