the 3 will support through 2024 or so until they release the 4. the 2 should support through the 991.1.

Hm ok. Maybe I should look for a 3 as I plan to upgrade to a 991.2 in a year or so.

just like the durametric, the .2 isn't "officially supported" by the piwis 2 but it'll still talk to it and do stuff. for oil change indicator resets, which is what the vast majority of rennlist DIYers need this for, it'll do that (and only at 6x the price of something like an icarsoft!)

It's worth it just to get the PIWIS 3. The cost difference is small when you compare the pre-loaded versions that come with laptops and you get much more compatibility (and a better interface with PIWIS 3).

I ordered a new correct ODB dongle and also purchased a new SSD with PIWIS 3 through a Rennlister who will help me with activation - each items will take a few weeks to get here, so fingers crossed I'll have it a version up and running soon.

Interested in how this works out. I also bought the VXDAS system and it is horrible as you described. Not entirely sure which route to go now.

Hey, Alex, any update on this setup? I'm getting quotes of $450 in LA to code my PSE retrofit. If I can get a full PIWIS system for not much more I want to go that route. SoCal dealers know how to rip you off.

I'm in Columbus,Ohio and did a DIY install my PSE and only paid $140 to activate it at the dealership and that included a call to Suncoast and time spent on an unsuccessful attempt to initialize a battery. This was three years ago but they spent two hours on it and only charged me for one. It sounds like the $450 is a major rip off and the PIWIS would pay for itself with a couple of trips to the dealership.

Yes, midwestern dealers are probably the most reasonable. Any dealer in FL (and apparently CA, and probably northeast) charges a minimum of $450 for any work done: oil change about $450, brake flush about $450, torque wheels about $450. . . .

Thanks.
