Default Coolant spec

No warning lights or anything, but I checked the coolant on my 2014 and the red ball is pegged at 'MIN'. So naturally I want to top it up.

Bought the car with very complete maintenance records and I suspect this orange colored coolant currently in there is factory original. FSM calls for Elf Glacelf Supra antifreeze coolant, Porsche # 000 043 203 78

I can't find it anywhere and suspect it's obsolete. Seems that Porsche in now substituting it with Pentosin Pentafrost SF, Porsche # 000 043 305 15, which I believe is pink colored.

Do I violate the automotive sin of mixing different colored coolants?...Or am I forced to do a full coolant flush/change to avoid mixing coolants?

No issue using the Porsche branded stuff. Just be sure to mix 1:1 with distilled water.

When did you check the coolant level, when engine is cold or after a drive?
In my 2019 C4S, when cold the red ball is at "MIN" but after a drive and engine is warm, it's at "MAX"

Never ever heard or read about any negative effect of mixing coolant brands. Yes, I think you just worry too much…. Enjoy your car - Happy New Year!

I bet if you stick a piece of paper towel down the fill tube the coolant will be purplish in color. If it's orange that would be odd.

G40 Xerox coolant is pink.
Porsche recommends not unscrewing them coolant reservoir cap until temp is below 140F
What does min mean? A few drops low? A few quarts low? You won’t know until you top it off. Get the floating red stick with ball on top to be in the center. If you over fill you can use turkey baster to suck it out but don’t over fill it.

I would try a bit of distilled water first to see if it moves the bobber. You may only need a few ounces.

The system contains roughly 28 liters, so just add a couple of cup fulls of distilled water first to see if that brings it up to full.
If you need a gallon, you mifght have other problems....

Don't add too much too quickly.

If the coolant level is truly at minimum (where the indicator float ball just touches the side of the filler neck), it only takes the addition of about 8 or 9 oz. of coolant to bring it up to the half-way position. If it takes more than that to bring the float ball to the middle position, the coolant level actually was below minimum.

If you fill the tank to the MAX position, when the engine warms up it might be a little too full and it might spit some out. Look for a puddle under the left rear of the engine.

Brands are 1 thing as long as you don’t mix pink and green! That would be game over
