Default California Smog: Did I get lucky or is this most peoples experience?

Installed the Soul Sport Cats last year on my 2019 GTS. Smog came due this year and I took it to a smog station. The technician lifted the wing, popped the deck lid and was looking around. he asked me where the Cats were and I said I think you would have to remove the rear fascia to see them. He poked around for a sec...tried to look under the car and then just plugged in the OBD and ran the test. Passed and on my way in 20 minutes. I'm so glad I didn't have to uninstall and reinstall them.

Has anyone else had this experience?

I am stock cats, but my car is so low my guy didn't even bother looks but honestly, if they are worn enough they would look stock to the non porsche guy. Also 2019 shouldn''t need smog so soon.

CA does not require smog on new cars (up to 6 or 7 years then every 2 years) but how come you had your car for a while and installed your cats on 2020 but needed a smog on 2021?

I was the second owner. The dealer that had the car registered it, then sold it as used. I bought it out of state and had it shipped to California. it had 150 miles on it.

Just be careful, if you do this and you get flagged, you only get one shot to fix it. Go twice and get dinged twice and the car can never be registered in California ever. I had an issue once and the smog guy unplugged it quickly so it wouldn't upload to the State and told me to 'leave now. you were never here...'
