Default Cost of PCCB replacement

After 4 + years of glorious use, my dealer says my PCCB rotors are a track day or two away from replacement. I'm done with this season, so next year come spring, I will probably have to replace. I've extended my warrantly 3 years, but this replacement will be out of pocket of course.

any one done a replacement? What gets replaced? is it just rotors and pads? and most importantly, how much did you spend $$$?

thank you

c

And just like that, PCCB’s came off my wishlist of upgrades on my next 911.

Rotors for all 4 corners through Suncoast are $24k. Someone posted on here they were quoted $40k from the dealer.

It should be rotors and pads all the way around.

Curious how many miles you have on the rotors and of those, how many on-track miles?

I have PCCBs on my GT4 and a set of GiroDisc iron rotors that I use. I don't like the added weight, so I'm planning to buy Surface Transforms ceramic rotors for the car. They are around $16k for all four corners and can be resurfaced several times for around $2400 for all four.

You had a shop say they are going to need to be replaced…. Why won’t they tell you how much it’s going to cost? I have seen prices on the internet from $20k to $24k. Takes a lot of street miles to wear out rotors.

my shop mech said he’s never personally replaced a set of PCCBs and they are about 35k USD (here in Korea), and told me if it weren’t so expensive he would recommend I just replace now, but since they are a price of a small Hyundai, I should just ride them to death and then bring them in.

I was just curious how it fares in other countries 😵

that 40k quote may have been from me from a while back.

I’m about 57,000 km in. Have done about 20 full track days. Worn through two pads. My last pad replacement light came on mid day into my track day and I just plowed through the day assuming I would have a few hard brakes left in them. They literally braked like they were brand new on my last hard brake before going home to get them replaced. The Porsche PCCB system is amazing. No fade what so ever.

now that my rotors have thinned out I feel the brake lever throw is a bit more deeper than before. I gotta put my foot down more. But the grip is still there. Its amazing. It’s expensive to replace, but for the pain free dust free five years I’ve driven them, it’s kind of worth every penny.

my wife’s steel rotor 991 targa I clean day and night because I can’t ever see my 911s dirty and the amount of pain and suffering I get from cleaning them brake dusts from her car compared to my no dust PCCB. have fun without PCCBs 😉

I can wash a lot of wheels for $24K. Heck for that amount I can pay to have them washed and still be well in the black.

My Ceramic pads are at 8mm with 47,000 miles on the clock. I have not tracked the car, but drive it in a very spirited manner on many PCA drives annually that we have - some being multiple day events in Arkansas and Wisconsin (I am in Iowa).

Yeah... "I don't have to wash my wheels as often, PCCBs are worth the money" is an objectively false statement and assuming such people are actually keeping the car through a PCCB replacement, I straight up don't understand where this logic comes from. I assume it's a clout thing?

TCO of PCCBs, according to my numbers which make a lot of very negative assumptions of irons and include regular professional detailing, is between 300-500% higher than irons for 60k miles. PCCBs just about break even at 120k miles and then pull ahead before 180k miles. You've probably sold the car before this breakeven, but even if you haven't the money you've been saving with irons has been invested with at least a 6% return, right? Whoops, that gap is closed again.

My 911 is a lifer so, yes PCCBs are worth the money for me, with one of the main reasons for being I don't have to wash my wheels as often. And the yellow calipers are also indeed a clout thing lol.

I have two dusters, one for thepaint and one for wheels. I have a separate commuter for rainy days so my 911 mostly only sees sunny ones. either I just dust off my car every few days or do a quick spray wipe down. I'll do a full wash less than 10 times a year.

I live in an apartment building and park my car in the parking garage with no easy access to water. So keeping my wife's 911 clean is a B*tch, especially the wheels. They dust up after a day or two, so i'm constantly cleaning them down.

I'm not extravagantly rich or is a type to just throw money around, but I didn't really buy this car (full in cash, as I knew it was a keeper from the day I configured and sent my order) to save money. With the amount of cup 2 tires I burned through tracking this beast, if I really wanted to save money, I could have just bought a Miata and built it as a full track car.

The fact that I can drive to a circuit, do a full track day, and still, on some clear days, be able to come home and just quick spray my car and wheels clean in my parking garage is worth the PCCB money, IMOH.

You know there are options other than stock to replace the PCCBs right? And they’re much cheaper. Surface Transforms?

great find! Scary shipping these rotors overseas and hoping for the best for 35 days but what a great technology. It actually makes ceramics cheaper than steel brakes. Anyone have experience in the Rennlist community with this process/company?

there is not much available options in South Korea where I live. And I have extended warranty in place with the car, so I don't want to give Porsche any room to pull any BS on me if I ever run into trouble with anything other than OEM..
