911 C4S Model Education
Looking for a little insight into 911 C4S difference 2013 to 2016. Seriously looking at a 50k mile 2013 with PDK.
I researched and the powertrain appears the same or close.
The biggest changes would be in electronics I assume.
Currently have a CPO 2017 Macan S as my daily. So somewhat familiar with Porsche System.
Thanks!

Comparing the same trim (4S in this case) across two years within a facelift range is comparing two largely identical cars. The noteworthy changes come with a facelift designation (.1 to .2) or a model designation (991 to 992). Later years within a facelift designation will have additional trims available (4S, GTS, Turbo, etc.), and then those are typically normalized into the facelift (.2) -- the 996 is a good example of this.
Someone keep me honest here, but I believe the entire 991.1 span uses PCM3.1 with base, Bose, and Burmester options for audio, and the entire span has adaptive cruise control as an available option. The PDLS/PDLS+ may be different in later years, but I can't confirm that off hand.
The only real changes you'd be after in 2016 vs 2013 are going to be relatively undocumented -- things like part updates, such as the water pump revisions. Globally applicable car buying conservative measures directly apply here, notably "never buy the first year of a car" because "they haven't shaken out all the issues yet." That said, chances are the water pump has already been replaced on the 2013 AND the 2016, so it's a crapshoot.
HTH, and happy hunting!

Advanced
Backup camera...?
Assuming we are talking the same model (.1), believe one difference you will find is the backup camera. In 2013 it was optional, starting with the MY 2015 it was mandated for all new cars sold in the US....it's one of the main things I miss in my 2014 C4S........

Thank you for the info!
Looking at 2 different Porsche 911s with obvious plus and minus.
2013 C4S. Loaded Clean CARFAX. Well maintained. Private party local. 50k miles. My wife does not like color!
2014 Carrera. Dealer CPO. Well optioned. 29k miles. Most important, wife likes color. Dealer 170 miles from home.
I assume CPO Porsche can be serviced at any dealer? I like the service center where I bought my Macan S DD.

Yes if it has a porsche CPO warranty that works for any porsche dealer. If it's just the dealership offering their own warranty, that's unique to them. I'd double check, because 2014 might be too old for an actual porsche CPO.

As for your choices, my preference would be the one with records you can verify. And for the C4S (which is what I got). How much does your wife hate the color?
If you're worried about having a warranty on the C4S, you can definitely get a 2-3 year Fidelity Platinum. It won't be cheap, but if that's a deal breaker then consider that as a way to even them out.

Well, I'll have to remember that one! Maybe I was getting it mixed up with another make.
If that's the case, yeah, CPO is great, but do note that it doesn't officially cover trim, fit/finish, rattles, etc.. Only mechanical things, for the most part. I've had a couple of "not actually covered but we'll cover it anyways" situations on my CPO, it's all down to the service advisor you're working with.

not true. Optional even on 2016.

Only big difference is the X-51 was an option in 2014, and of course the 2015 & 2016 GTS (all versions) came with the power kit. No other significant changes for the 991.1. I paid to have my 2013 retro fitted w x-51 btw.
