If US insurance policies were required to pay 125% of market value, insurance fraud would likely increase tremendously and escalate costs beyond affordability.

The OP caused his damages.
You were the victim of another distracted insured party who was also ticketed.
You had leverage against the insured. The OP has far less.
Oskar, were you ticketed at the accident scene?

A salvage car (rebuilt) in Europe does not hold the same negative stigma as one would in the USA.

Plus one on this. LexVan apparently is all knowing so there is no room for anyone else opinions in his world.

Come on guys. We are all friends here. We can disagree in an agreeable manner. I see nothing snarky in Lexvan’s comments, and he is entitled to his opinion just like you are entitled to yours. No reason to make personal.

I recently re-watched "how it's made", and believe it or not, a 991 is assembled from many little metal panels ;-) Meaning anything man made can be remade, and remade as good as it was. I'm sure there are great Porsche repair specialists, ask around.
The whole "is it" or "is it not" discussion is kinda pointless. You insurance will determine if it's totaled (repair cost > value of car, or at least close), or repairable, after an expert determines that in person. Not us behind a keyboard.
After that if it's close and you are uncomfortable with keeping the car, maybe you can push for getting it totalled.... Thing is in this market I'd be more concerned about how much you'll pay to get another, or about the payment you'll receive being under market value.
I think people over-react a little on damage repair. I once owned 911T (1973) that turned out to be made from 2 spliced cars, the work was well done, took me a while to find out (secret VIN). Best 911 I ever owned ;-) Resale value, not so good though... Just make sure you are made whole, is all.

wow!. sorry about your bad luck. impossible to determine if it's totaled or not. no worries.... you'll find out soon enough.
good to hear you didn't injured/hurt. lots of good advise above. bottom line is don't take the insurance companies word on anything. from repair estimates too cost of replacement...... do your own research to confirm everything you are told. hopefully things end well for you

No way to tell if it's totaled or not just from the pics, but for future reference, if you run your Porsche off the road into something solid by your own doing and cause major damage, my suggestion is to keep your foot on the accelerator and run it into the nearest tree or barrier or wall to make sure it's good and totaled. There's just no upside to owning a Porsche that's seen major repairs IMO. If I'm in for a dime, I'm in for a dollar, and that car's gonna be toast by the time I take my foot off the gas pedal and shut the engine off.

I would recommend getting the car to an official Porsche center, or at least to an officially recommended body shop. In addition to a greater chance of correct work (and new factory parts), any future buyer will want that.

What did your insurance company say?
