Default Tuning

Getting Vektor headers, Vektor High Flow Cats, IPD Plenum and BMC filter install in my 2018 991.2 Targa GTS, anyone with similar set up that might share their experience with aftermarket tuning? Had Cobb in my WRX and was happy with the gains and ease of set up and never ran into any issues. Car is under warranty so, I take that into consideration rather than maximum gains.
thanks in advance

In very general terms, the APR and Softronic tunes appear to make the most power. Cobb and fvd are more middle of the road. With Cobb, you can go to a pro tuner and customize the tune however you like.

Also check out this thread https://rennlist.com/forums/991/1185494-diy-carrera-t-turbo-r-and-r.html

And look up fsmich. He has a Carrera upgraded to GTS turbos, Vektor headers, I think AMS intercoolers and probably something else I'm forgetting. He has done both a Cobb pro tune and APR tune.

I think you will be please, there will be a significant gain in power everywhere across the rev range.

As spdracenut said, check out fsmich. It was Cobb ProTuned and he did have intercoolers as well, but it put down great power. Within 3hp of Turbo S if I remember correctly.

991.2 GTS PDK here

i have the following:
  1. kline headers
  2. kline 200 cell cats
  3. kline exhaust
  4. tial intercoolers
  5. tial intercooler inlets
  6. tial turbo inlets
  7. go fast bits diverters
  8. bmc filter
  9. tial plenum on order

i am running the Cobb v3 with stage 2 91 octane ots. Purchased it used and came with the map which isn’t I longer available. Waiting for my pro tune appointment for a 91 octane and e85 maps.

car runs decently smooth as is. I can feel the pro tune would extract much more power. I like the flexibility of switching maps at my disposal.

You are correct, I am quite impressed with how much more responsive the car is now and how it pulls. It also sounds awesome. Adding the Vektor headers, HFC's, IPD Plenum and BMC filter takes away any regrets I ever had about upgrading from the aspirated 991 engine to the 991.2 and finally makes the GTS really stand out against the Carrera S. It always felt somewhat of a disappointment except for the cosmetic package. I can't wait for the FVD tuning to maximize the upgrade.

Talk to Scott at Softronic, it is his place. He knows more than most and he is totally upfront about what to expect, etc. I am getting his tune for my Spyder now but I had Cobb on my Targa GTS and a couple of others with no complaints, but I have heard and read a lot about Softronic and talked to Scott so I am giving them a try on this car.

Scott is great. I had questions and he worked with me, he responds quickly and works with you. His knowledge, background , and results are the reasons I chose Softronic. I have his tune on my '17 911 base. Once you have it, it's hard to go back.
