I just won an auction for a 2018 Targa 4 GTS (manual) on BaT. Super-excited to say the least, and now that I begin this journey, a friend mentioned that I absolutely need to be involved in the rennlist community. So here’s my first outreach…

I need to transport the car from Salt Lake City to NJ… any suggestions on where to start that process, or who to reach out to would be much appreciated.

The Targa 4GTS is basically unobtanium. Congratulations on the snag! That's considered a god tier non-Turbo 911 by many folks, and rightfully so in my opinion.

Front axle lift, GTS, Bose, 7spd... all great stuff that will immensely help keep value in the car going forward if that's a concern. The colours and centerlocks can be divisive, but those are largely personal preference. Make sure you get the equipment and read up on how to care for centerlock wheels if you do any of your own maintenance.

If you're an Android user, I highly recommend looking into hacking the PCM4 to enable Android Auto. The dealership will not do this for you as it is not an officially supported thing by Porsche, despite them using the Audi code where it is supported. If you're savvy with a computer, linux command line, and hex editors, it's pretty straightforward and there's a huge thread about it. If not, simaservis1108 here on the forum can do it for you remotely for a small fee -- many users have had excellent experiences with him.

Lastly, welcome to Rennlist! Tons of useful information and people here in the 991 technical forum. As far as transport, there are a few people that are well versed in it that will more than likely chime in over the next day or two.

 

Fly out, pick it up and drive it home. You will remember the drive for the rest of your life.

Welcome to the C4GTS family. If you haven’t flogged one yet, you’ll be surprised at how well it handles. Do you plane on driving it year round?

 

The car transport trucking industry, oh please don’t. Pay for my flight and fuel and I’ll drive it home (I own one too)…..not kidding

 

Driving it back would be fun. If you must transport I used Bears for my wife's Audi this year and all went very well.

 

 

I echo many other's recommendations....buy a plane ticket and drive her home. I have done that with my last two car purchases, no regrets. Plus, it gives you lots of seat time to get familiar with her. Enjoy!
