Default Not Turbo “Spoiler Error Adjust Speed” on 2014 4S

So I got the Spoiler loss Reduce Speed on the dash yesterday on a 2014 4S. Does the 4S have the same issue as Turbo’s around the 77mph range. Any input? I checked for error codes this AM. No codes. Might have lost it after sitting overnight.

thanks for any input.

Took it out again. Says “Spoiler Loss reduce speed “. I had sport mode on. I see the spoiler coming up and retract. Checked codes before I shut car off…no codes. Arrow on alert points to rear.

Help

I had a similar issue resolved when the battery was changed. Try charging the battery before your next run.

I have been getting a similar error lately.

”Rear flap spoiler failure”. Something like that.

It was driving me nuts at the track, as every time I went over a certain speed, it would sound a warning tone and come up on dash. When i braked below, it would disappear, and when then getting back above that speed it would sound again.

The spoiler is clearly up, as i can see it in the rear view mirror.

I tried leaving the spoiler up, and whilst it never stayed up, the error seems to have gone away now by itself. I did also recently replace the battery to the new lightweight Lithium one.

So this is just for the Rear Spoiler on a 4S??

They don't have the bladder system from deployable spoilers do they?

No. This is the non-turbo rear deck spoiler that all 991s have.

thanks for the reply's....Ill get the battery thing a try. I just bought the car used a week ago and other than this issue, its a sweet ride. BUT it a bit scary reading the spoiler issues and the cost on the turbos.

Just an update. I Finally was able to get into Porsche Service, 2 week wait (might need another thread to discuss this - maybe what’s to come given the # cars Porsche makes), the $2100 assay needs to be replaced. With labor taxes - $3k. Sure seems like a common problem with these cars. Especially the turbos.

Can you say fixed wing? Lol

You say it seems like a common problem.. where do you get this impression from? I ask because it's not something I can say I've personally noticed being discussed often on RL.

What is this "assay"? There is a common problem with the spoiler plastic that retains the spring becoming broken. Dealer will want to replace the entire thing for $3k. There's a simple fix that can be done for about $5 in materials and a couple if hours in backyard labor.

MECHANISM 99150404104 is the replacement part. Point me to that post if you would. Does this cause the error I’m seeing? I remember seeing this I think but I’ll be damned if I can find it….help

It seems to be the same part. Though it could be a different problem on the same part. The broken plastic that retains the spring did not cause any error on mine. Here's the thread: Rear Spoiler Spring - Page 2 - Rennlist - Porsche Discussion Forums

So, assay was replaced and all is ok.

I went and looked at the old part….sure enough the plastic holding the spring as noted in other threads, were broken. As the Porsche mechanic and I talked about it, he said the replacement had been redesigned to fix the issue. He said mine had that new redesigned assay…hope so.

I was going to take the old assay and fix it as documented in the threads here and keep it for spare or sell. But given it was redesigned, I left it at Porsche service.

By assay I mean “assembly” or all the parts that make up the entire mechanism. Porsche just makes this entire mechanism as a single part that doesn’t have individual parts with part numbers you can order.

Have we seen this failure on a 991.2?
