Here are the intermission pictures. We got water in the house from all the rains and while we were addressing that, decided to fix a long standing drainage issue. The area with the Japanese maple just fills up with water during heavy rains and can work its way into the house. The fix was not cheap though.

Very nicely done Jay. That conversion definitely completed the all around look of the house. I am doing something similar and ordered the same garage door.
Crazy to me that down here (central part of the country) million+ houses have carports, they are fancy carports … three and four cars … but they’re still carports (as you mentioned the leaves blow in in the fall and the pollen, which is terrible around here, comes in in the spring ). Did your bunch other crazy crap down here also like putting HVAC equipment…
Anyway curious ballpark how long did it take?

Thinking of converting out garage on our semi. Few questions. The area is only 8x20ft is that a workable area for a child’s bedroom once insulated etc? I am thinking of making it a 2 storey extension to allow for a storage utility and accessibility to the back garden. - we own the full freehold to the garage but only share of freehold with the upstairs flat on the adjoining building. As there are no windows overlooking the garage site am I permitted to use the second floor area? And would a mansard roof work on the site.

Seriously you need to talk to a contractor who is familiar with codes for your area. You’ll get a very different response from random people on the internet who give recommendations based on their local knowledge that doesn’t apply to the building codes where you live. Alternatively, your local municipality will have a copy of the code book online and you can do some light reading to find out yourself. Even if you weren't a car geek the upgrade to your house's appearance is huge. Nice job. If you decide to do the floor I decided to use porcelain tile and epoxy grout. Lasts forever and you can clean it with anything. Best money I've spent, but this truly is my last home.
I did a faux stone tile, but they also have these faux distressed wood tiles that are non-slip.
