Been shopping for a 991 to replace my hopefully soon to be sold Ferrari 360.
Have done a lot of research on this site as well as others to understand the common problem areas etc.
Local 991s are few. Looked at a base 2014 991 PDK 27k miles ask $77k.
Sunday looking at a 2013 991 S. Manual(preferred), very well optioned, 42k miles ask $74k.
Hard to get a handle on market. Miles don't concern me if well maintained and checks well.
Comments welcome based on experience.

I sold my base ‘14 with pdk, nicely optioned, msrp 110k and about 7k miles for about 66k in June 2019. Paid 72k for it 1.5 years earlier. CPO with 2.5k miles. I’m happy I am not looking at this time. Best of luck.

Here's a good read if you're new to RL and the 991 market.

Thank you for the feedback. Read several threads related to 991 market. Appears I am not alone!
Was on Rennlist years ago when I owned air cooled 911s/930s. Water-cooled are new to me. Great resource.
Local preferred. Retired. My wife is very high risk. No travel in the COVID World for a while.

Consider letting the Board know what part of the country you are in. That me narrow the search.
What I did was to maker a list of no compromise options
What I did was to maker a list of no compromise options
- With the 2012 to 2016 991.1, had to be a Carrera S for me, for a 2016 to 2020 991.2, I'd consider a Carrera with heavy performance options to include PASM and PTV.
- PDK
- CPO car either from a Porsche dealer of a private party. From a Porsche dealer you get a 24 month warranty, fro. a private party, you get the remaining warranty. You cannot buy a Porsche CPO warrantied car from a non-Porsche dealer.
- Sport Exhaust....toy can add this, about $3,000 parts and labor, could be less,
- Sunroof delete..wife's car has sunroof...gets toasty on hot days....and they are weight above the CG, the less the merrier....good reason to lose a few pounds
- Clean CarDax, no accidents and as few owners as possible,
- 2012 - 2016 991.1 comes with these no charge options, PASM and PTV
- Sport Chrono...991.1 cars are I'm limited supply,y from dealers and possibly private parties too...PCNA/PAG have cars equipped with Sport Chrono on hold.
- The car had to pass a PPI to include exterior. It needs to be gone ov er with a Paint Meter to detect re-paint and body work.
- Have a budget, and stick to it, no last minute rationalizations. Your ideal car is out there....you just need to look, keep looking.

Thanks again!
Located just north of Boston.
2S is my preferred model. 4S 2nd.
Prefer manual. Have PDK in my dd CPO Macan S(replaced my company car when retired). Great Gearbox but I miss the manual experience.
2013 S has most of the bells and whistles. Sport Crono, Sport Exhaust, etc.
Private Party. Added Risk there.
Will require a PPI prior to purchase.
Hopefully Porsche dealers provide this service. My last Ferrari was not PPI inspected. Area dealers would not do PPI due to potential liability.

Test drive a lot locally. Find out exactly what you want: 992.1 vs 991.2, Base vs T vs S vs GTS, RWD or AWD, PDK or 7MT. Separate musts haves, nice to haves, and mustn’t haves.
Learn how to use vinanalytics.com to find the build sheet based on VIN. Buy a few CARFAX and AutoCheck bundles.
Be ready to pounce and have the money ready to go.
Use AutoTempest, Rennlist Marketplace, Cars & Bids, Bring a Trailer multiple times a day. Search nationwide. Be patient.
My story: I did the above. I was looking for a rare breed: Guards Red Carrera T 7MT with RAS and no option that adds weight. A dealer 1000+ miles away popped up as having one but all that was listed was the VIN, price, and mileage. No pictures. I ran the VIN through Vin Analytics, CARFAX, AutoCheck. I called the dealer and placed a deposit contingent on a pre-purchase inspection (typically, you’re committed and won’t get that $ back unless the PPI finds something wrong with the car). Within a few days it was shipped to me.

The 991.1 is a great car. I wouldn't pass over a non S for regular street driving. You will know when you find the right one. As others have mentioned, be ready to buy on the spot when you find it. I would also consider a good indy for PPI over the dealership. IMO an interesting color Carrera is a rare find among the sea of black/silver/white S cars. Good luck in your search!
