Default PDK grinding noise issue

Looking for advice/ opinions please. I very recently purchased a 2012 991.1 Carrera S with 61000km. For the first week I had no issues and was enjoying getting to know this marvellous vehicle. Last week, however, I had a disconcerting experience which has left me deeply concerned about my purchase and how serious the issue might be. Whilst driving I was approaching an intersection and had to brake fairly hard to stop at the red robot. As I was almost stationary there was a loud grinding sound as the PDK transmission automatically went through the downshifts. Only at the point of almost standstill. The engine was not cold but also not fully up to temperature. It happened again yesterday under very similar circumstances - braking fairly hard and not fully up to temp. Anyone else experienced this? Is it fixable? If so what is the fix? I will contact the dealer who sold me the vehicle to discuss the issue and the way forward. Clearly not a new issue as I’ve only had the car for two weeks. Thanks in advance.

Yikes, good luck sorting out the PDK. That is certainly scary. I too have a 2012 991.1 Carrera S, now with 93,000km and it's rock solid. No transmission issues or noises. I hope you have a CPO warranty? Honestly that's the one thing that really scares me about the car, transmission failure. It's rare, but it can happen. Please keep us posted!

my 2012 991 pdk is also just fine at 99,000 miles. I've only gently used it over the past 9 plus years. No rocket starts from stop few if any redline shifts.

I suggest that you get thee to a dealer for a checkup

Are you sure you didn't pick up a stone in one of your brakes?

The squealing/screeching is horrible if you did.

good lord, go enjoy your car man. That’s kinda sad.

OP, that doesn’t sound right, not sure why that could happen and does sound like something else could be going on beside the pdk.

😂 funny but I actually use my GTS in a more aggressive fashion then my *****.

both are used for pleasure but one will take a bit more abuse than the other.

I have had this happen many times. The sound is not noticed until you are just about stopped.

Sounds really bad, yet its just a stone wedged between the rotor and brake pad.

Sometimes, a simple brake application in reverse will kick the stone loose.

usually slowly in reverse will dislodge the stone....then again, passing stones can be painful
