ABS brake bleed/flush with PIWIS, iCarsoft or similar
Does anyone have experience doing an ABS brake bleed using an OBDII tool like an iCarsoft or Porsche PIWIS?
I added front stainless brake lines yesterday and the pedal is slightly soft. Some have recommended doing an ABS bleed which forces the system to activate, thus purging any air trapped in that part of the circuit.
I’ve watched a few YouTube videos on other cars. The procedure seems to be all over the place.
I intend to use a pressure bleeder on the master cylinder and flush all of the lines. I can then use the iCarsoft to activate ABS bleeding as well, but unsure if I do it before the regular bleed? After? Do I need to use the brake pedal as well?

I am looking for a similar solution for my 991.2 car

I’m going to try using the iCarsoft V3.0 and its instructions and bleed order.
The iCarsoft mentions having a 2 bar pressure on the fluid reservoir. That’s 29 psi which seems like a lot for my Schwaben bleeder, however.
I’ll report back today.

I just finished the iCarsoft ABS bleed. Unlike the conventional RR, LR, RF, LF sequence it had me go LR, LF, RF, RR. The ABS activates as you pump the pedal, which I did about 6-8 times per wheel. I pumped my Schwaben power bleeder to ~25psi but it started to leak. I then left it at 15psi which seemed to work just fine.
It’d be a much easier process with 2 people, even with a power bleeder.

So this procedure is similar to brake fluid replacement with a pressurized u it like the Motive bleeder but because of the icarsoft 3.0 unit it gets the fluid out of the abs system too? How much fluid did you go through? Thanks

Rock solid. I did follow up the iCarsoft LR, LF, RF, RR ABS routine with a standard RR, LR, FR, FL for good measure. Not sure it made a difference.

Not sure exactly how much fluid it went through as I pouring fresh but bled fluid back into the pressure bleeder. I had two 1L cans of Endless and used both, but mostly out of an abundance of caution as I’d previously pushed air into the system cuz I’m overconfident in my wrenching abilities

is your brake pedal rock solid?

Pedal is rock solid. Modulation of braking force is exceptionally easy as there's such little deflection (after the first ~2").

Thanks for sharing. I need to see if my iCarSoft Pro has this function.

Q: Can I update the scanner on my MAC?
A: Sorry, currently our scanners can only support updates on Windows OS such as Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10.
