991.2S loud "whoosh" high rpm full throttle
I'm a relatively new 991.2S owner and my ride is making a very sudden and pronounced "whoosh" above 5,000 RPMs and heavy throttle. Specifically, it sounds like forced/rushing air but its not linear or graduated; rather, its very sudden. It doesn't seem to lose power but its a little disconcerting. Doesn't seem like a factory designed phenomena. I bought the car CPO so would assume its 100% OEM.
Is this normal?

Is your throttle application changing, such as you letting off the pedal?

off the top of my head:
Traction control intervening, cutting throttle and bleeding boost
Wastegates opening (or closing more) to increase/decrease boost, as boost does climb up higher around those RPMS
Something totally normal like your wing raising up and the aero of the vehicle changing as a result (this happens at a vehicle speed, not engine speed)
without an example of the sound to hear the best anyone here can do is more or less randomly guess. The car is CPO -- take advantage of that and ask your dealer.

A trip to the dealer is likely.
It looks as though you have a 991.2 ? If so, does yours make a sudden/loud rush of air noise above 5k rpms and full throttle?

Wing was my initial thoughts but I've ruled that out through visual observation. My other theories are blow-off value and/or wastegates, sounds turbo related but the volume of the noise doesn't seem like factory.

Could also be a boost leak.

Diverter valve?

These cars have a sound symposer that channels intake noise into the cabin.
It is most noticeable with the windows up and under heavy acceleration and deceleration.
Other than that, my S with PSE doesn’t exhibit the “whoosh” you describe.
