I can give you a comparable. I bought a 2019 991.2 C2S MT with 1K miles and PPF no CPO MSRP $126K from a Porsche Dealer last December for $110K. That’s 12% depreciation. I was looking for a 991.2 S or 4S MT with low miles - very hard to find so when I saw it I bought it. Dealer discounted asking price 5%. 991.2 4GTS are in demand, but I would hope you can negotiate 5-10% off MSRP, even in this market. Note: Porsche dealers can be very stubborn (not easy to negotiate). Good luck. The spec on that car is awesome, and I love the idea of a car limited history - it supports my slight obsessiveness.

PDK. Not wanting to start yet another MT vs PDK thing but I came off a MT Boxster. I was holding out for MT when shopping for the 911 but after a drive with PDK I pretty much went “never mind”. The MT crowd is like Harley riders. They’ll drive a primitive, inefficient, underperforming, possibly more difficult to drive vehicle and pay a premium to do it. But it won’t matter because when the greenies manage to get sports cars and fossil fuels outlawed, these cars will either become priceless or worthless no matter what transmission they have.

Thanks. This is very helpful. Unfortunately, doesn't sound like much room to negotiate as you predicted. So it basically paying essentially MSRP for a 2 year old car. I think even if it depreciates in 3 years to a typical 60% of original value of original sticker, I don't think it would be a complete disaster based on my out of pocket costs with low interest rate environment.. So many ways to justify!

typical depreciation would be 20/30k hit after the 1st year (e.g. I got my 16xk msrp gts in 110s after 2yr/5k miles), but this market is far from being typical......

Right..but this vehicle has not yet depreciated in the typical sense which is the part that is throwing me off! Am I going to get crushed with a double depreciation because I bought one around MSRP for a 2 yr old car? Or will it now depreciate as it normally would have over the next 3 years or so which is how long I will likely keep the car? No one can predict and again I am not in it for investment purposes and just want to drive the darn thing already!! But also do not want to be completely irresponsible.

Well I bought my 2015 991.1 GTS4 in 2018 with only 98 miles on it. I knew what MSRP was as I have all the paperwork on the car and it was exactly what I was looking for, but I could no longer buy one new. And basically it was a new car. Yes I paid less than MSRP and I got a car I should have bought when it came out, but missed the boat.

So why worry about it unless you flip cars every couple of years.

More data here. Just picked up a 2018 C4 GTS a couple of weeks ago here in Vancouver, BC. It had 33,000km on the clock, original sticker price of 186k MSRP (+ taxes, pdi, etc). Dealer was asking $149,xxx - I paid $144,900 + taxes (traded in my 718 Cayman GTS, a lot of tax savings).

Main options to note:
-GTS interior package
-Front-axle lift
-PDK
-Glass sunroof
-PDLS+
-Sportdesign rear spoiler
-Lava Orange paint
-Sport design mirror in carbon

I think I did okay on the price, pretty happy with comparable prices in this crazy market.

I think you did pretty good! So this is about ~20% off the sticker but the car is a year older and has more miles than the one I am looking at. I hate to say it but the dealers know what they are doing..

I believe the normal depreciation curve would apply from the original MSRP. So if you are 2 years in and buy the car for MSRP now - then you should assume the depreciation is baked into the numbers when the markets settle down in the next year or so. So if you are wanting a car now, that would be the price of entry. If on the other hand you choose to wait, then the pricing will definitely go down but your options will be much less. I recently sold my 2019C4GTS with 2500 miles to the dealer for MSRP - presumably they are looking to make money so will be looking to sell above MSRP. It’s a sign of the current market.

However, I am not sure what the right price wouldve been for something like this a few years ago before the current madness. It is basically being sold right around MSRP currently but has CPO warranty and again is essentially “new”.

Would this have been 20k cheaper a couple yrs ago? 10k? Trying to figure out how much of a potential bath I would take when market corrects.

Appreciate your input!
I saw the car a few weeks ago while at the dealership setting up a service appt and order. It is a very well equipped car and a fair price in this market. But for point of reference, I almost bought a nearly identical spec 2019 GTS from Westwood last June, and they offered the car to me for $20k off sticker as it was prior MY car and sitting on the floor for months (during the pandemic). The dealership also had mistakenly labeled it as a Carrera S on their online listing, so all the aforementioned probably played a factor in the offered discount last year.. Had it been labeled correctly in the ad and had there not been a pandemic-related shutdown, the car probably would have sold for $135-137k, about $10-12k off MSRP. Given current market conditions, the Burlington GTS is a fair deal for a nearly new car.

This post is funny. I’m proud to be a member of the “MT Crowd”, and I’m fine if it takes me longer to get to point B - I enjoy driving my MT 911. It was the required #1 spec for me. I’ll probably be a fossil by the time fossil fuel is gone. You’re probably just happy to be out of the boxster - I would be too

I agree that the market may correct, but also one of the primary factors that is being largely ignored here is that this is a very low mile car. Cars with less than 10k on the odometer sell for more. Check out auction sites like PCAR or BAT.
