Good advice. Experienced installers will lay a towel on the dash and/or use a rope insert for the gap at the windshield.

No idea since it is regulated state by state. But, reputable installers in the industry use the term “darkest legal” during install. Just tell the installer “darkest legal” and they will apply. They will show you a sample of “darkest legal”. If you want less, then specify one shade less than darkest legal and lighten up from “darkest legal”. They will have samples to show you’ll each shade. Of course, what is “darkest legal” is different state by state.

I'm in the Houston area, and I have a light tint on mine (which has Luxor Beige full leather), as it was a Missouri car originally, I haven't gotten around to darkening it yet.
I honestly just put in a sunshade during the days it's parked outside the office and it helps a bunch. Also keep the windows or the sunroof cracked so the heat rises and escapes. Then when it's time to head home, hit Max A/C and the ventilated seats, cools down in minutes lol.

But my car is silver so isn't a magnet for sun rays, and during the worst month(s) which is August in Texas, I'll drive my Audi A4 and let it sit out most of the month.

I have 33% on sides and back, and 10% on the windshield here in Oregon. It blocks 99% UV, and 93% IR which is where the heat comes from. Makes a huge diff on the interior heat even on an 80 deg day.

Live in South Florida all my life. The first thing I do to any car I purchase it get the windows tinted to the darkest legal limit (sometimes even a little darker ). It makes a huge difference in terms of internal vehicle temperature and longevity interior, particularly if your vehicle spends much time parked outside.

You tinted the windshield darker than the other windows?

For an installer in Las Vegas, I've used DC Auto in the past with good success. Their shop is located fairly close to Gaudin Porsche.

I second the recommendation to put a film on the windshield. A clear film won't harm your visibility and will help protect your dash. Makes a huge difference in the heat of the Summer.

Growing up in Las Vegas, I can't tell you how many cars with cracked dashboards I rode in as a kid.

I think I got the windshield number wrong, It passes 90% of the light so just a slight tint.

Thanks for the replies. One last question re the windshield. Visited 2 well reviewed installers - one said tint the windshield (clear) to protect the leather interior, the other said not needed and a waste as the OEM windshield contains a UV protection layer. Any thoughts?

OE windshield do have some UV protection. I always tint windshields with a high-quality ceramic film because you can feel the difference - especially in hot climate where I live.
