Default New to me Targa 4 GTS

I got the bug for a 992 Targa after seeing a 991.2 at an event at a local Porsche dealer. I had just missed an allocation my dealer had and it's not looking good for more anytime soon. Just a few weeks later, the same car that made me want a Targa was traded and I bought it. I never thought I'd own a gray Porsche but the colors on this car fit my taste. Plus it offsets my 991.2 Voodoo Blue GT3. One flashy and one drab. Car has GTS interior and a 7 speed. The first think I noticed when I drove it was how the shift feel is so much looser than the GT3. If they could make a shifter on a GT3 so good, why would they not do that on the other models?

Anyway, here it is:

Truly a thing of beauty, congrats!

Can you share your view on how different the driving experience is between your Targa and your GT3?
Also, can you share how these 2 cars fulfill different driving needs for you, for instance your GT3 is only for track and you need something more comfortable for long road trip hence the Targa but you still want to enjoy shifting by yourself hence the 7MT. I hope my question makes sense. My dream 911 garage at the moment would be a 993 C2 (which I am about to receive in a couple of days) and a 991 : I am attracted to the 7MT Targa GTS but for that amount of money, a GT3 Touring is not so far in terms of price so I cannot decide between them. I know the 2 cars are very different (targa vs coupe, turbo vs NA, AWD vs RWD), my usage would be mostly road trips, having fun on twisties and the very occasional track day (maybe once or twice a year at most).

That is a beauty! I love the GTS interior and I think the color scheme looks great.

That is a beautiful car! I love my 4GTS, I would have gone the Targa route if one had popped up within my budget last year.

I haven’t driven the Targa much. I’d like to put some more miles on it first. I really like my GT3 but I hate the seats. Once you’re in them they are not bad but the 18 Way seats are so much more comfortable. I like the way the Targa looks and I wanted a 911 with an open top. I’ve never tracked my GT3. Just spirited street driving.

I think a GT3 touring would be $70 to $80k more than a Targa.

Default It's not drab!! It's subtle!!!

Great color choice. You certainly have fine taste as your 911 is nearly identical to mine except, looking quickly, yours has the mt and mine fal. Agate Grey is an beautiful understated color choice for a sports car and always looks relatively clean. Happy driving!!

I was concerned about the lack of FAL but this car sits higher than the GT3 so hopefully it will be ok. If I specd it, I would have opted for it for peace of mind!

@Numeric Racing Short Shifter is an easy mod that solves that problem.

funny you said that. I already looked into it and watched the install video. I'll have to decide between shifter only and shifter plus cables.

Congrats. That is a perfect build. Love that color too. I had the same feeling about the shifter in my GTS. It was tall and loose. Ended up installing the GT4 shifter, which is very good. I’m sure the Numeric is great too, especially with the cables, but for a GTS, it was fine. I would expect more if it was a GT car.
