I have exactly the same problem with red leather instead of carbon fiber. New is $1,200 or more. I was thinking to tape off the top, use a little body filler (one a little finer than standard bondo) to fill the cracks, sand, get my wife the dentist to smooth out the shift pattern, then paint with a metallic paint. Maybe come back and put red enamel into the shift pattern before clear coat.

Lot of work, but it would look sharp!
I've got a spare black leather .2 shifter that I'd sell if you are interested. Let me know. Great shape.

I'm not sure I can get the plastic part off the shifter. I saw a post here that I can't find any more that talked about taking it off, and it sounded like breaking the plastic clips was pretty hard to avoid. My car is a .1 (2014). Is yours the same?
A lot of the ***** from Function First aren't available now, according to their web site.
Having said that, I am not all that fond of them, or the other after market alternatives. They are basically just pool ***** on a stick. For some reason, that doesn't appeal to me. I'm sure it is great for people who like it. I like the shape of the stock ****, but not the materials and finish quality.

Mine is a .2 car. I believe the shifter is the same. The chrome plastic trim pops right off. It was pretty easy for me.
Ok so I went to a metal finisher - does high end silver polishing and stuff - he was able to lift the top part off the shift **** - it was held on with adhesive. I wasn't watching but he said he heated it up and it came off. Then he polished it on his machine - seems like it was a painted on coating that was chipping - and that's all. Put some adhesive and put it back on.... Charged me $20... And looks a million times better. He thought it was plastic so he was delicate with it...but night and day.
Hope that helps. Just had it done this weekend.
